REJOICE! JULIA CHILD IS VISITING FRANCE IN FIRST IMAGES FROM HBO'S JULIA TV SERIES SEASON 2 WHICH RETURNS THIS AUTUMN!

   JULIA SEASON TWO
ARRIVES THIS AUTUMN
Two of our favourite HBO shows are finally coming back and beside Gilded Age which returns October 29th, JULIA is also coming back with season two but November 16th when it will premiere with three new episodes and other five will air weekly till late December. Sarah Lancashire is back as the acclaimed chef Julia Child and David Hyde Pierce as her husband, Paul.

IN THE SECOND SEASON
first three episodes will be set in Paris and the French Riviera while Julia grapples with her rising fame and celebrity with her show up and running on the air, and with a weekly cooking program virtually unheard of at the time. After spending some much needed time in France while preparing for her second season of her cooking show The French Chef, Julia visits a wide variety of renowned restaurants and chefs across both the South of France and the U.S in Washington D.C. and of course, Boston. Social issues prevalent in today’s social landscape are mirrored in Julia’s journey as she and her team spearhead female-driven public television.

 WHO IS IN THE CAST?
Also back in the cast are Bebe Neuwirth, Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz, Fiona Glascott and Robert Joy while Rachel Bloom will join the series in the recurring role of Elaine Levitch, a dynamo who comes to WGBH by way of CBS to work with Julia on The French Chef. Stockard Channing, Craig Bierko, Judith Light, Isabella Rossellini, Tosin Morohunfola and Christian Clemenson all have guest roles in the new season. It has been a year and a half since the first season aired in spring 2022. They have used a real 1,000 years old market in France to shoot the scenes where Julia is shopping for groceries while on the trip there. Hope we get a trailer soon!

    1. Autumn is oficially saved with this and Gilded, just do not know what expects us during the winter, will it be cold and deadly on the small screens? THOSE ABOUT TO DIE will air Autumn 2024 so we have that to look forward to in a years time. And with Rings of Power returning and Serpent Queen probably, maybe next year will be better unless the strike kills us all...

    2. I have a hunch that after the pandemic we will face an era of mediocrity script-wise speaking. So, this is my strategy for now. I have lived 64 years in this world, I figure there must be at least 64 great series I’ve never watched, perhaps twice that number, so let’s go for them. For starters, I’m catching up with rejected stuff, reviewing it, seeing if it really was that bad. I’m beginning with Mrs. Maisel, Emily in Paris and Discovery of Witches.

    3. That is very optimistic LOL I do not think I would ever find that many good old shows, and the problems is nobody torrents them when they are older than a year or two at most. I watched the first season of Emily and stopped when the pedophiliac bitch slept with a 15 or 16 year old boy and made it into a joke, what vile hypocrisy. Could not handle it after that. Discovery was boring as hell, but later seasons are better than the terrible first one and she becomes less annoying. However the show was never satisfying to watch as she rarely uses her powers and she has zero chemistry with Goode.

    4. I feel bad because I have access to so many retro channels (mostly free) and Prime Video carries almost everything. Don’t they have Retro channels in Serbia? I’m talking about XX century stuff.
I have a problem with Emily’s self-righteousness when it comes to lovemaking. in the first Season she was constantly criticizing French for their libertine attitude towards sex. She claimed to be one-man’s woman, faithful and”‘good”. She even preferred to screw a huge vibrator than indulge in casual sex. Then she falls in love with her neighbor and she sleeps with him, makes sense, but prior and after she is screwing everything around her, including clients and a teenage boy. By the way, sleeping with Camille’s baby brother was to show that in France (at the time) there was no age of consent for sex. After all, Macron, their president, is married to his high school teacher.
Ohhh Gattocito, thanks for giving me a chance to screech against Discovery. Such a good idea but horribly executed. This is a story of centuries of struggles between vampires and witches, and you have almost no action, you have characters in labs or around the table haranguing about scientific explanations that laypeople understand not, worse we don’t give a fig about them. This is supposed to be about forbidden romance, not about stiff people who deliver dull dialogues about why they should not be together or why they should go against the Congregation. Teresa Palmer is an abomination. Fugly, ill dressed, disheveled, no charm, bad actress etc. moreover, because the show was concocted in 2018, MeToo highest moment, she’s supposed to be a MeToo heroine, constantly slapping her lover with neo-feminist maxims. He’s a vampire, for Pete’s sake, doesn’t follow feminist rules. She’s so dry and lacking warmth that she’s even cold to her babies.
Don’t get me started with lack of chemistry. Matthew looks SOOO SOOO scrumptious, and here he’s just a log to this virago. And I’ve seen him display chemistry with Mia, Nicole, Keira, Michelle Dockery in Downton Abbey not to mention Vanessa Kirby in The Crown. Ohhh what a waste! I'm watching it backwards, from Season 3 back (i've watched once the entire Season One) and see no improvement.

    5. No, we do not have them and even if we did I do not own a telly by choice LOL
And don't forget that Emily slept with the boyfriend of the woman who was the first one to be nice to her in Paris.

Oh, yes, I never understood why they dress Teresa Palmer so fugly in the show, like I am embarrassed for her most of the time, either for the shit she is wearing or for her terrible acting. And Alex Kingston wasted in that stupid role of a powerless witch and also dressed fugly with her lesbielady all the time. And then the final episode was so anticlimax, so stupid, just left me empty and speechless. Also Lindsay Duncan who is a billion years old vampire and has no powers, not once did she defend the castle or her family, like what is the point of you being a vampire then??? And Matthew's fugly soon, who will now also star in that Lady Jane show, why is that dull fugliness getting roles?

    6. Is there a principle that impedes you from getting a telly?
This is the way Emily’s convoluted love/sex life went. She goes to Paris leaving a fiancée back in Chicago. Spends two episodes (it’s like two months in the series) fending off men, though she’s clearly attracted to Gabriel, the chef, her neighbor. In chapter 2, she breaks up with her Chicago boyfriend. Then she makes friends with Camille. Then he kisses Gabriel. Then she finds out he’s Camille’s boyfriend. She tries to stay away from him although he claims to feel something for her. Then she has a fling with a snobbish professor. Then, Camille invites her over to her country house to meet her brother and to set her up with him. Emily sleeps with the wrong brother, 17-year-old Timothee. She’s mortified, the family is very French about it. She goes back to Paris and starts a relationship with Mathieu. In the last episode, Camille tells Emily she broke up with Gabriel because he was going back to Normandy. Emily is about to go away on a romantic trip with Mathieu but goes to Gabriel and they make love. Next thing, Gabriel stays in Paris. Next thing Camille wants him back. Instead of sitting down with Gabriel and asking what he wants. Emily pushes him back into Camille’s arm and goes away with Mathieu. He finds out about her one-nightstand and dumps her. From then on, it’s so immature and ridiculous like a Mexican soap.
I didn’t read Deborah Harkness ‘trilogy, but if you are making a romantic fantasy you have to have the protagonists look so hot, the public wants to be them. I understand that poor Alex Kingston, whose hair looked like the inside of an old mattress, because she is an old witch and a lesbian, doesn’t dress like Endora but everybody else, even city dwellers (talking female characters) dressed in rags, or very dark humongous sweaters. And why powerful women always have to wear pants? Teresa Palmer only dressed decently when she moved to Elizabethan London, and there she became a bad copy of odious Claire from Outlander.
Poor Lindsay Duncan, she was also wasted and poorly dressed. The last episode was a joke. Matthew is being held in Poland and subject to evil vampire tortures. Diana goes there and in five minutes kills the vampire, strips Satu of her powers and saves Matthew who gets well in a jiffy. We never see her agonizing over his illness, smothering him with kisses on his well-being, doesn’t even take a peek at her babies. All she knows is she wants to fight the congregation…with words!

    7. Well, I actively do not want to own a telly. Life is better without it, you dedicate more time to yourself, for example to reading, and I do not have time to watch it. With all the house chores and work and book reviewing, plus Hollywood Spy, I do not have time for telly. And I don't want to waste money on it. I probably would not even know how to use the modern ones.

  2. I didn't know there's a TV series Julia...I have only watched the film Julie and Julia and it was hilarious. I guess this series is different.

    1. Geez, Angelina, I only wrote about it like 38 times or more... The first season was very good, you will like it even though she does not cook much in it, sadly.
