Netflix has finally released a trailer for upcoming drama movie
THE LIFE AHEAD with
Sophia Loren and it is very moving indeed. Directed by her son
Edoardo Ponti and scheduled for streaming from November 13th, the possible award contender next season is set in seaside Italy, where Italian acting legend
Sophia Loren plays a Holocaust survivor with a daycare business who takes in a 12-year-old street kid (
Ibrahima Gueye) who recently robbed her.
The film is actually a remake of a French foreign language movie Oscar winner from 1977 with Simone Signoret. The film will stream worldwide on Netflix next month. This is Sophia's first movie after a ten year pause.

Speaking of old divas, check out country music queen
Dolly Parton in the trailer for musical movie
DOLLY PARTON'S CHRISTMAS ON THE SQUARE which will sing its way onto
Netflix November 22nd with 14 original new festive songs (written by Dolly) and with
Christine Baranski as a rich and nasty woman, Regina Fuller, who returns to her small home town after her father’s death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer – right before Christmas.
However, after listening to the stories of the local townsfolk, reconnecting with an old love, and accepting the guidance of an actual angel (
Dolly Parton), Regina starts to have a change of heart.
Sophia Loren again. Such a treat. The trailer made me tear up.
ReplyDeleteWould be fun if both her and her son were nominated for some awards this season.
DeleteThese both look great. How does Dolly Parton not age? I mean, I know it’s probably just a great plastic surgeon, but even with work done people usually show some sign of age!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'd call her plastic surgeon great LOL I mean she's the example of bad plastic jobs :)
DeleteWonderful to see Sophia back on screen. I thought the story sounded familiar. I do think I'll like this telling of it just as much as the original.
ReplyDeleteShould be a nice watch, although kids like that scare both you and me as we know it...
DeleteAfter taking in my own troubled youth last year, I'd never do it again. Those who can weather that kind of storm have my utmost respect.
DeleteHow is the troubled youth these days? Annoying the granny?
DeleteWorse than ever, but thank God she's not my responsibility any more. Finally gained my weight and health back since she went home since I'm not as stressed these days. Poor granny is fit to be tied with her antics though.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear she is not progressing, hope she has a catharsic moment later on in life and changes for good when she is more mature. But glad to hear you are regaining your health back, it was a difficult but a wise decision to send her back, sadly.
