NEW 'BOOKSHOP' POSTER
STARRING EMILY MORTIMER, BILL NIGHY AND PATRICIA CLARKSON
Speaking of Brits, check out the new poster for this month drama movie BOOKSHOP based on Penelope Fitzgerald's novel set in 1959! Florence
Green (Emily Mortimer), a free spirited widow, puts grief behind her and risks everything to open up a bookshop - the first such shop in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough, England. Fighting damp, cold and considerable local apathy she struggles to establish herself but soon her fortunes change for the better. By exposing the narrow minded local townsfolk to the best literature of the day, she opens their eyes thereby causing a cultural awakening in a town which has not changed for centuries. Her activities bring her an ally in Mr Brundish (Bill Nighy) who is himself sick of the town's stale atmosphere. But this mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies: she invites the hostility of the town's less prosperous shopkeepers and also crosses Mrs. Gamart (Patricia Clarkson)!
Bookshop opens next week in England |
Looking forward to "The Bookshop."
ReplyDeletewhat would we do without enchanting British films?
DeleteI was just thinking about Bookshop just yesterday. Funny you should post it today. I am really looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteI have my surgery tomorrow, so I may be late to your post. I meant to follow up with you on Twitter this week, but things got wonky here. I'll be sure to update as soon as I can :)
I wish British films had better marketing, even Guernsay Potato Peel Pie and Book Society went rather unnoticed.
DeleteI will be thinking of you, dear, and sending you positive thoughts! Be brave!
I'm off to bed now, but wanted to catch your post today and to also let you know that surgery went well. I'll update you on Twitter as soon as I have a bit of recovery time. Thank you for your well wishes xoxo
Deletethank God, I was worried! Try to rest and make the gang do everything around the house instead of you for about a week... or two.... or three if you're a good actress :)
DeleteThe book shop sounds like such a sweet film and very much like "Chocolat"!
ReplyDelete-Kati
Almost Stylish
that was my impression as well
DeleteIn reality, a bodyguard would not be assigned to protect someone whose views he 'despises'.
ReplyDeleteBodyguards are thoroughly checked for their political and general opinions, by Security authorities that employ them.
But what if he is the best one in the country and they have no other choice? Or if his company has sent him to do it. As a book translator I often have to translate books that I'd never read myself, even some that are contrary to my ethical believes, but I cannot refuse because we all need money to survive and pay for food.
DeleteI'm guessing the plot in the series was written in the way that either he or she change their opinions during their cooperation.
So he guards her body I'd love to see it the other way around in a movie. Don't think that's been done before. Can you imagine... a woman kicking ass?
ReplyDeleteGadafi had only female bodyguards and look what happened to that poor chap....
