of when confronted with the unimaginable. It is a story of survival

'CATHERINE THE GREAT'
DIRECTED BY BARBRA STREISAND
Meanwhile, after lavish Russian epic series from last winter, Russian Tzarina CATHERINE THE GREAT will grace the big screens too! And Barbra Streisand will direct it for the first time after her 1996 flick MIRROR HAS TWO FACES! LIFE OF PI's Gil Netter is producing this movie about a sensual Catherine trapped in an abusive marriage with the heir to the Russian throne. But, when her inept husband proves incapable of ruling, she utilizes her intelligence, fortitude, and passion to rise to power, becoming Catherine the Great.
Christ that Starfish sounds like happy viewing!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of our Serbian guy Nick Vujacic from Australia who was born like that but it didn't stop him to find a gorgeous wife, get a son and write dozens of inspirational books
DeleteYeah, I've seen him on a TED talk if memory serves correctly. Talk about a fantastic attitude!
Deletehe is a huge star here, especially since Novak is his friend
DeleteStarfish sounds like an inspiring story. These historical shows are getting out of control. Catherine the Great. Right now I am more interested in a story about Catherine the Pastrami Lady. Enough already!
ReplyDeletethere's never enough historical shows! The more people watch them the more they might actually learn something.
DeleteStarfish sounds powerful. I've read of amputees having amazing lives and adapting in creative ways.
ReplyDeletethe strongest of human beings
DeleteI actually didn't realize she got the throne by marriage rather than birthright
ReplyDeleteyes, she was a German princess brought for Peter by his granny Elizabeth, Russian Tzarina, but since Pete was a naughty devil and a crazy man, Catherine took over the power from him after granny died and ruled the country as empress. You and Daisy should find old mini series in which Catherine Zeta Jones plays her, it is really lovely to watch
DeleteI had no idea that Barbara Streisand directs! I hope it's as spectacular as she is. :)
ReplyDeleteWhaaaat? Sister, her movies have 14 Oscar nomnoms :) YENTL is her direction and so it MIRROR HAS TWO FACES and others. She just hasn't been around much lately
DeleteI'm shocked, too. I do know she used to play in soft porn flicks, though. Didn't you tell me, Dezz?
DeleteMe? I'm kinda proud I hadn't known that before you told us right here.... Now, I did know about Sly and Shwarzie.....
DeleteI did too. Unfortunately.
DeleteI've even seen Arnie's pics.... :)
DeleteYIKES!
DeleteI should be Catherine the Great, don't you think? I'd totally marry into a throne somewhere and then just smoothly take over from there.
ReplyDeletesounds like a cunning plan! Harry is still free for grabs!
DeleteStarfish will probably be a very though provoking film! It will probably make us question how we would handle being in that kind of situation. I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine living like that, or being blind or unable to walk, but people do it
