POSTERS FOR KEANY REEVES ASIAN EPIC "47 RONIN"! CAM GIGANDET, JIM CARREY, ADAM SANDLER FOR "GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY"! SF EPIC "SELECTION" GETS NEW PILOT AT CW! "DAY OF THE FALCON" EPIC TRAILER WITH ANTONIO BANDERAS, MARK STRONG, FREIDA PINTO!

I've mentioned recently that we have tones of big films coming out this year which have had zero marketing so far and we haven't seen anything from them even though only months separate us from their premiers. One of such is
Keanu Reeves' Asian epic 47 RONIN. The long awaited adventure was first supposed to hit cinemas last year but was pushed further to December 2013. Now the posters which were meant to be used back last year have appeared around the internet but they will not be used when the new campaign starts later this summer. Starrng Keanu Reeves, Rinko Kikuchi, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Yorick van Wageningen, Kou Shibasaki and Togo Igawa, the 18th century set story centres on a band of samurai who set out to avenge the death of their master. The outcast Kai (Reeves) joins a group of Samurai, led by Kuranosuke Oishi (Sanada), who seek vengeance on Lord Kira (Asano), who killed their master and banished the group. The Samurai
ATTENTION! I had to take down the posters due to the request from NBCUniversal, but I think you can still find them at numerous other places around the web.
embark on a journey whose challenges would defeat most warriors! While the film is based on the true story of the forty-seven Ronin, it is a fantastical take, being set in a world of witches and giants. This is why it is described as a mix of LORD OF THE RINGS and GLADIATOR.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
And the casting games for Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY still continue. After Lee Pace, Eddie Redmayne, Zachary Levi,
Joseph Gordon Levitt, Michael Rosenbaum and Jim Sturgess, the latest names to audition for the lead role of the Star-lord, the leader of the Guardians, are Wes Bentley and Cam Gigandet. And apparently, according to "Latino Review" two comedians Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are also wanted in, so far, unknown roles. In TV news, CW has again ordered a retooled pilot of THE SELECTION, a sf pilot which wasn't picked up for airing last year. I don't know if the new version will have the same cast, but it will be an epic romance set 300 years in the future, centring on a poor young woman (Aimee Teegarden played the part in last year's failed attempt) who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads. CW is still deliberating whether to pick up AMAZON pilot which is telling Wonder Woman's origin story.

DAY OF THE FALCON
And a film HOLLYWOOD SPY has spotlighted two years ago is finally getting its US release: with the title changed from BLACK GOLD to DAY OF THE
FALCON, the sweeping epic will hit cinemas in America March 1st. Directed by amazing Jean Jacques Annaud (ENEMY AT THE GATES, ) and starring Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Freida Pinto, Riz Ahmed and Tahar Rahim, DAY OF THE FALCON is an epic film that tackles honor, greed, betrayal and love between rival kingdoms. Just as the two groups cease to fight after years of bloodshed, oil is discovered between their territories, reigniting their once violent past. It's now up to their children- young lovers who married in hopes of bringing the families together- to find a way to end the violence and to bring peace to the land. You can read more in HOLLYWOOD SPY's extensive spotlight on the film!

  1. I actually love Keanu Reeves, so I hope this movie is a good one - - that being said, I'm not holding my breath!

    1. we shall wait until we see pictures and a trailer for it. Hope it doesn't disappoint. It will be interesting to see how will the samurai fight against the hobbits in December :)

  2. I'm looking forward to 47 Ronin. Not a huge fan of Keanu as I think he's pretty "wooden" when it comes to expressing himself on screen. It used to be that his good looks would hold him up. But those are fading with time. Let's hope that his acting has improved since the Matrix (which was brilliant because of the Wachowski's and not Keanu).

    1. fully agreed, he is quite similar to Brad Pitt in that respect - both gorgeous to look at, but both wooden. We haven't seen Keanu in a long time, so hope this one takes him into the right direction.

  4. Hmmm, I do have high hopes for 47 Ronin. I like the idea of Lord of the Rings meets Gladiator. And at least Keanu will look fabulous in the part. I think he's still pretty nice to look at...as is Antonio Banderas. :))

    1. Hope he doesn't try any accents in the film, we know he is extremely bad in accents :) Unlike, Banderas, who can always speak to us with his Puss in Boots accent :)

  8. Good to see Reeves back. Don't know what movies I'll see this year. Not a fan of the high-priced movie houses. But sometimes we manage to go discount night.

  11. I haven't seen a Reeves movie in a while. I enjoy his movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy sounds like it'll be a big deal.

    1. yep, we haven't seen him much after MATRIX. Most of his films were flops after that.

  12. The second two movies sound good.... the Keanu movie...I don't know...when the studio starts moving things around like that its not very promising. I wonder if he's had some acting lessons, I mean he's pretty and all, but.....

    1. he definitely needs acting lessons, some serious ones.... But then again being a good actor isn't a key for getting jobs, just look at tones of horrid actors who still work - Cruise, Julia Robert, RPats, KStew, Harry Plopper kids, Halle Berry... just to name a few

    2. Some of them even have Oscars!

    3. Oscars have gone to some many mediocre or talentless hands that it is a true wonder that anybody still values them at all - Berry, Helen Hunt, Hilarry Swank, Gwyneth, Roberts - just to name a few... meanhwile Ewan and Jude, McKellen and many others have no Oscars, Blanchett and Winslet and Collette have only one each, it is truly ridonculous.

Love the look of Day of the Falcon and it's an epic tale that goes straight to the heart of me. I can't wait to see it.
