JOSEPH GORDON LEVITT MIGHT PLAY THE RIDDLER IN "BATMAN III"
So here's another spicy gossip from the world of superhero movie adaptations. As "Hollywood Life" reports, while filming "Inception", talented young actor Joseph Gordon Levitt and director Christopher Nolan have had a great time together and Joseph has casually mentioned that he would like to play The Riddler in "Batman III". At first it was just a joke, but apparently the two of them kept talking about it, and it appears that now Nolan is considering Gordon Levitt for the part of the hilarious villain. HOLLYWOOD SPY will inform you if this gossip proves to be true. As you might know, David S. Goyer is currently working on the screenplay for the next installment in the Batman franchise, and the movie is supposed to come out in summer 2012.

Personally I don't think they should go The Riddler route because they'll be stuck with countless comparisons to The Joker. I was thinking a character like Black Mask would be more suited to the films mythology (especially considering the comments Rachel makes about Bruce's "mask" in the first one).
ReplyDeleteIf they go that route though, I'll be curious to see how they play it.
well, as far as I've got it so far, they've been bringing back the previous villains in the first two movies. I think they said Penguin won't appear in BATMAN III.
ReplyDeleteI kept hearing people want Joseph Gordon-Levitt to replace Heath as The Joker because for some reason, Gordon-Levitt kinda, somewhat looks like the late great Heath.. nice wishful thinking but never gonna happen,.. not on Nolan’s watch.
ReplyDeleteRiddler should goes to Johnny Depp and I hope Catwoman will eventually appear in this third.
Yeah, Nolan said no one else will ever play the Joker.
ReplyDeleteDez, I got the interview ready to go for the 24th. Great answers! Think my followers will dig it. And we still have two weeks, so I'll see what happened to the Vanity Fair photographer...
Johnny Depp could pull off a believable Riddler, but I think he'd probably cost too much. Personally I've always wanted to see Crispin Glover in the role, that guy is creepy in real life, he'd be perfect in a Nolan Batman.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the above comment. Crispin Glover would be fantastic as a villain in a Nolan Batman flick.

ReplyDeletedon't you think there's a bit too much of Johnny Depp in everything? I hope CATWOMAN could get her own new reboot :)
@Alex
Glad you like it, tell me if you want me to add something more, if it's too short, if you want more advice for writers or something. I'll take your word on that photographer :P
@Answer and J.M.Neeb
ReplyDeleteI must admit Crispin's a bit too scary for me :) but I don't think he has a sense of humor for this role.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an actor of enormous talent, and I think he could do it. He'd bring real emotional texture and depth to the character--he has the gift of making every scene he's in seem completely honest and real. This may just be the greatest role he needs. Thanks for posting this--fascinating to mull over.
ReplyDeleteif he gets the role, it really could be his breakthrough role.
ReplyDeleteNever, coz he's a brilliant and perfect actor in almost every role he's in.
ReplyDeletenever what Jaccsy? You kinda lost me :)
ReplyDeleteNever think there's a bit too much of Johnny Depp in everything.
ReplyDeletelike there's never too much SEX AND THE CITY :pppp
ReplyDeleteYes, please make it true, JGL has to play the riddler!
ReplyDeleteIt will remain a riddle until the cast is revealed :))
