We'll definitely be seeing a lot of fairy tales on the big screen in the future. Beside already announced "Cinderella", "Jack The Giant Killer", "Wizard of Oz" and "Maleficent", and already successful "Alice in Wonderland", it seems "Snow White" will get a live action movie as well. According to "Deadline New York", director Brett Ratner is preparing the live action adaptation of "Snow White".
In the new movie, a young woman will still get poisoned by the evil witch's apple, but there will also be several updated aspects to the story. The plot will be more connected to the 500 year old folk tale and will put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney's film. His dwarves were miners, and here they will be robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. This new "Snow White" is going to be more edgy, with more comedy.
It's amazing to see so many fairy tales making it to the big screen again.

Thoughts in Progress
This world needs more fairy tales to remind us on the power of love and the power of good ^_^
ReplyDeleteI remember reading Snow White as a kid - definitely not Disney's version. I'll look forward to seeing that movie.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comment on my blog.
This shot is breathtakingly beautiful and Rachel looks stunning as Snow White. Love the story, because it's darker than most Disney stories. It will be a hit!
ReplyDeleteBrett Ratner = The Last Stand of Snow White in Rush Hour of Seven Dwarfs :))
ReplyDeleteDezmy, they're going to ruin this fairy tale, and I don't surprise if in the final it was Snow White who poisoned the queen, prince and all the dwarfs.
Most of Disney's movies softened the original story.
ReplyDeleteAnd the new super hero is...fairy tales. No surprise there!

ReplyDeletebe welcome, you really have a kingdom of positive energy over there :)
@Neb
it's a part of the famous Ennie Leibovitz photo shooting in which she made photos of celebrities as fairy tale heroes. You've already seen Scarlet as Cinderella and Drew as Beauty and the Beast, but I have a lot more of those pics waiting to be used when the appropriate story appears :)
@Jaccsy
yep, I already feel sorry for the poor dwarfs :)
@Alex
kids need softer stories.
@Veronica
I guess it's better than all these vampires that are the part of the current trend :)
as long as they're done well, I'm all for updates/reimaginings like this. Hope it turns out well. It could be fun.
ReplyDeleteHey, Okie, welcome to HOLLYWOOD SPY, hope we'll be seeing you here often :)
ReplyDeleteScared me for a second. At first I thought you said Brett Butler... Yikes.
ReplyDeleteWho's Brett Butler, Dr. Hecks? :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks almost like 3D pic :) It's also very detailed . Love it!
ReplyDeleteyep, there's even a raccoon, my favourite animal :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like what they're trying to do with dwarves. Robbers? Bandits?
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess honest, hardworking miners were not "edgy" or entertaining enough. :( I understand their reasons, but they didn't need to make them criminals just to make them more interesting.
It kinda reminds me of use of that little girl in Kick-Ass.
Sure, it's entertaining, but it leaves a sour taste behind it.
It'll be interesting to watch what was the 'original' tale because I only know the Disney version.
ReplyDeleteWill SnowWhite be played by Rachel Weisz? The woman in the pic, looks like her to me...
(oh, hello Dezmond! ;) )
No, Lurker, Rachel is just a part of the Annie Leibovitz photo shoot in which she was photographing celebs as fairy tale characters, so I just used that pic to illustrate the story :) But she would be great in the role.
