"GLEE" SCORES SUCCESS IN THE MUSIC CHARTS AS WELL

It seems that we were right when we predicted that the new musical teenage TV show "Glee" might have a huge success in the music market as well. Few weeks ago they sang their version of Rihanna's "Take a Bow" and now the song has hit Billboard's top 50 chart. After the show's premiere at the beginning of September, that song scored 53,000 downloads.
What's more, "Don't Stop Believing", a song that they covered in their pilot episode back in May, has entered the chart this week again. In the week after the pilot was aired this spring, this song got amazing 177,000 downloads. So it seems that the teenage musical misfits from "Glee" are not at all misfits when it comes to selling music to their TV fans.

  1. I've seen/heard those two song performed in Glee. I kinda remember Rihanna's "Take a Bow". I remember the "don't tell me you're sorry cause you're not, you're only sorry you got caught" line, not much rest of the song. :) Then again, I'm not an avid follower of Rihanna's work. Or any other artist for that matter. :).

"Don't Stop Believing" is great cover song for this series. I just heard it for the first time and I like it.

I still think Glee will be too "vanilla" and contemporary for my taste, but Maybe I'll check out this series sometime in the future.

  2. It's exactly the vanilla part that I like the most in this show :))) I've always preferred vanilla to chocolate, white to black :)

And I'm more than happy that they're singing current hit songs, it's just cool to hear them tackling with modern pieces.

  3. Too bad the cast is so stereotypical. I guess it couldn't be helped.

I'm afraid I'm not at all familiar with modern pieces. I've seen the list with some songs that are performed in show, and I can't recognize any. Except for "Push It". I've seen that clip on youtube. Very memorable scene.

It's also a shame they wont use "foreign" artists and song. But, that was also expected. OF course, even they had to use Queen's "Somebody to Love". I guess the Queen is/was so popular around the world, even in USA.

  4. I like it whenever anyone anywhere uses QUEEN's or ABBA's songs :)

  5. It's interesting that after only two episodes GLEE has received a full-season pickup from Fox.

It has also attracted 15 million viewers during the premiere of the first Autumn episode, and more than 300,000 crazy fans on social networks like MySpace and Facebook. All of this, after just three episodes!!!
