STUART MARTIN TO LEAD
MISS SCARLET AND THE DUKE
Sky's beloved epic drama Jamestown has ended, as you know, this summer with a rather shocking finale, but despair not, spylings, some of our
favourite stars have already booked themselves new gigs! Our dear Scotsman Stuart Martin (whose rise from Medici series to Jamestown, we've been proudly following for years) will take the lead role in new A&E Network period set series about the first female detective in the 19th century London MISS SCARLET AND THE DUKE as the duke himself next to Kate Phillips as Eliza Scarlet whose father dies and leaves her penniless in a time where marriage is her only option for financial security. But the headstrong
Eliza is determined to find another way and takes over his private detective agency. But she needs a partner, so she hires detective Inspector William Wellington of Scotland Yard, who is also known as The
Duke, a drinker, gambler and womaniser. Eliza and Duke strike up a mismatched, fiery relationship and team up to solve crime in 1880’s London. Andrew Gower, Cathy Belton and Matthew Malone will also star!

MATT STOKOE IS GAWAIN

wearing it as he is to don the armour of Sir Gawain in Netflix epic series CURSED which will follow Nimue, Lady of the Lake (Katherine Langford), who After her mother’s death, finds an unexpected partner in Arthur (Devon Terrell), a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin (Gustav Skarsgard) and deliver an ancient sword. Miss Scarlet is a female detective; that's what we usually refer to as 'a woman in a man's world'.
ReplyDeleteHer partnership with the man detective from Scotland Yard, promises action on all fronts, not only on the front of crime solving.
Should be a captivating action series.
Hope they have a rich budget for it!
DeleteIt sounds like they have some pretty good gigs lines up to keep them busy for the time being. I am really looking forward to Miss Scarlet. A strong female lead, a handsome detective, and lots of mystery + action works for me!
ReplyDeleteI wish the rest of the cast would get new gigs too, Ben Starr is, for example, super charismatic, uber cute and delightful and yet has only a few projects in his resume, sadly. I'm happy for Stuart Martin, though, I love it when the actors we support for years get new gigs!
DeleteI'm sure in due time they will. Maybe they're the ones holding out for the right part. I have so much more respect for actors who don't just jump into every offer they get, but go for the roles they can really show their talent in, even if it means not having as many titles under their belt.
DeleteSadly, the world operates in a different way, you get roles either if you are lucky or if you sleep with someone which explains so many of them getting gigs with lack of talent. Just having charisma and talent does not mean much in today's world, look at David Oakes, for example, super talented, gorgeous and charismatic and has no new gigs and has to play in theatres while semi talented ones like Tom Bateman get roles like crazy. Not to mention all the freaks in Hollywood.... RPats is Batman, Kirsten Stewart is Charlie's Angel, that horrid Cara Delevigne gets leading roles even though she destroys every project she is in, Oscar Isaacs and Timothy Chalamet get roles in every movie even though they have zero acting depth and charisma.... not even looks...
DeleteI think that's why I'm more drawn to movies without big names in them. Those actors you mentioned are atrocious, but the mass of stupid people keep hanging on to their every move so they keep getting the parts. The politics of it all is truly disgusting.
DeleteIt is getting worse and worse because the new millennial generations just don't care about talent.
DeleteMiss Scarlet and the Duke sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteAnd it will be over on one of your channels :)
