'THE GREAT WALL' POSTER
FOR EPIC FANTASY ADVENTURE
Not much to report today, just some new posters for the movies we're waiting to see in the cinemas, starting with a new one for epic historical fantasy adventure THE GREAT WALL which starts rolling around the world from December till February next year.
Starring Andy Lau, Willem Dafoe, Pedro Pascal and greatly miscast Matt Damon and
directed by legendary visual genius Yimou Zhang (as his first English
movie), it follows an elite mediaeval force which, in the battle for
humanity, makes a heroic stand atop the Great Wall of China to combat an
army of monsters.
NEW 'DENIAL' POSTER
RACHEL WEISZ & TIMOTHY SPALL
A new poster has also been released for another period set movie, Rachel Weisz starring DENIAL based on the acclaimed book "History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier"! It recounts Deborah E. Lipstadt's (Rachel Weisz) legal battle for historical truth against David Irving (Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. In the English legal system, the burden of proof is on the accused, therefore it was up to Lipstadt and her legal team to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred. Tom Wilkinson also stars with Jack Lowden and Andrew Scott in the movie which is out in USA and will open in UK in January.
Still don't know how I feel about The Wall yet!
ReplyDeletehorrid lead actor aside, it is still a movie from genius Yimou who gave us HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, HERO, CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER etc
DeleteEven with the casting of Matt, I am sure there will be some redeeming qualities that make The Wall an enjoyable watch.
ReplyDeleteit will be a visual splendour, minus his ugly snout :)
DeleteWhile I like the poster, THE GREAT WALL seems very strange.
ReplyDeleteutterly so with that lead actor, wish it was Henry Cavill as it was originally planned
DeleteWhy is that, Lynda?
Deletebecause of the godawful lead actor
DeleteI see.
Deleteindeed you do
DeleteI'm excited for Denial!
ReplyDeleteit is already out in USA cinemas!
DeleteDenial looks like a powerful movie. I'll have to see that one.
ReplyDeletedon't miss it now in cinemas
Delete"Hero" is one of my "most favoritest" movies ever!!! I´ll be waiting for the Wall!! :)Thanks for the excellent news Dez!
ReplyDeleteMine is The Curse of the Golden Flower, Yimou is such a talent!
DeleteTh Great Wall...interesting! I was wondering why it takes that long to make a movie on that magnificent landmark..
ReplyDeleteyes, although I'm sure the Chinese had movies on it in their language
DeleteWell, I just saw The Great Wall, and while the wall may be great, the movie's special effect certainly are not. Seen it, done that. Plus the monsters look ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI'm so disappointed. (Get over it!)
Oh, puhlease, missy, what do you know about special effects? :) Asian special effects are not according to everybody's taste, but I don't think they're bad, I kinda love them, they're usually playful. I'm very excited to see the five different armies in the movie, but I'm not sure I can digest a second of Damon on the screen.
