'DURRELLS' SEASON 3 RETURNS NEXT SUNDAY WITH KEELEY HAWES, JOSH O'CONNOR! BBC HIRES TOM HOOPER, DAFNE KEEN FOR 'HIS DARK MATERIALS' EPIC ADAPTATION! CHRISTOPHER ABBOTT TO LEAD GEORGE CLOONEY'S WW2 SERIES 'CATCH 22'

CHRISTOPHER ABBOTT

TO LEAD GEORGE CLOONEY'S WW2 MINI SERIES 'CATCH 22'

We're sticking to period set TV series today, starting with an announcement that Christopher Abbott has been cast as the lead in George Clooney's

mini series CATCH 22. Set in WW2 Italy it follows artful dodger Yossarian (Abbott), a US bombardier, who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to avoid his military assignments, he’ll be in violation of CATCH 22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specifies that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty. Clooney will direct and play a colonel.

ANSEL ELGORT TO LEAD HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN FANTASY MUSICAL MOVIE? 1ST 'YELLOWSTONE' TV SERIES TEASER WITH KEVIN COSTNER, WES BENTLEY, KELLY REILLY, DAVE ANANBLE, JOSH LUCAS

HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN

MUSICAL WITH ANSEL ELGORT?

The studios apparently battled over the project

If you grew up on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales such as The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid or The Ugly Duckling, you will be happy to hear that Fox 2000 is planning a musical movie about him starring Ansel Elgort!

The musical fantasy will feature original music from Wicked's Stephen Schwartz and will, as 'Deadline' reports, follow Andersen who as a young man gets trapped in a world of his own imagination. As he searches for a way back to reality, he comes face-to-face with characters from his own fairy tales, nearly all of whom try to trap him in their world forever. The project is planned as a potential musical movie franchise. Life of Pi's David Magee is penning the script! The studio apparently paid a seven digit sum for the pitch.

FIRST 'YELLOWSTONE' TEASER

STARRING KEVIN COSTNER!

Yellowstone starts this summer June 20th

Paramount Network has released first teaser for their June 2018 series YELLOWSTONE which boasts a rather stellar cast Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Dave Annable, Danny Huston, Josh Lucas, Gretchen Mol...

It follows John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in USA, under constant attack by those it borders — land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.
