Attention, spylings, we have a special broadcast today with fresh news and updates from Comic Con which is raging currently over in San Diego. The day brought us the very first trailer for the live action movie musical version of famous CATS and I don't know what to say, as someone said somewhere in comments it looks like stuff of nightmares with people in purrrfectly terrible masks of cats. And plus an annoyingly bad rendition of legendary song Memories by infamously overrated Jennifer Hudson. If it is any consolation, at least part of the cast is amazing (if you can get over the fact that Taylor Swift is in it as well): Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Laurie Davidson, Jason Derulo, Rebel

joining CATS movie musical which follows a tribe of cats over the course of one night. The feature adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous musical already has Ian McKellen in the cast next to a rather silly bunch that includes Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Scheduled for December next year, the movie will probably include some new songs as well. Les Miserables helmer Tom Hooper is directing the big screen adaptation. Davidson and McKellen aside, this is really shaping up to become one of those projects nobody really asked for.Laurie is currently shooting The Good Liar movie with Ian McKellen, Helen Mirren, Jim Carter and Russell Tovey. Now, that one, really does have a cast to die for.

We're sticking to period set TV series today, starting with an announcement that Christopher Abbott has been cast as the lead in George Clooney's

mini series CATCH 22. Set in WW2 Italy it follows artful dodger Yossarian (Abbott), a US bombardier, who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to avoid his military assignments, he’ll be in violation of CATCH 22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specifies that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty. Clooney will direct and play a colonel.

BBC is adapting Dark Materials into mini series

BBC has found a director and actress for their eight part series adaptation of HIS DARK MATERIALS saga from Philip Pullman! Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) will helm and Wolverine's daughter Dafne Keen will star as Lyra, a girl from a parallel universe, in which science, theology and magic are entwined. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and turns into a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. She is later on joined by Will, a boy who possesses a knife that can cut windows between worlds. As Lyra learns the truth about her parents and her prophesied destiny,
