'THE ENFIELD HAUNTING' 

MATTHEW MACFADYEN AND TIMOTHY SPALL TO EXPLORE GHOSTS

Still no updates from Hollywood, so we're sticking to the TV news today as well, starting with some British ones: a thespian cast consisting of Timothy Spall, Matthew MacFadyen and Juliet Stevenson, will star in Sky Living's new series THE ENFIELD HAUNTING. Envisioned in three episodes, the series will try to explore the unusual events that took place at a house in Enfield back in the 70s. In the story dealing with one of the most talked about recordings of alleged poltergeist activity in UK history, Timothy Spall will play paranormal researcher who is invited into a house after reports of a family being victimised by unseen forces. Juliet Stevenson will play his wife, while Matthew Macfadyen will portray a sceptical investigator who joins him at the house.

JOANNA VANDERHAM CAST

IN BBC'S 'THE GO BETWEEN'
Meanwhile, over at BBC they have hired Joanna Vanderham, who starred in their historical series PARADISE, to play the lead in THE GO BETWEEN TV movie. The adaptation of LP Hartley's classic novel will follow Leo Colston, who as an elderly man pieces together his childhood memories after finding his diary from 1900, which he wrote when he was 13 years old. Beside Vanderham, the cast will also include Stephen Campbell Moore (Titanic), Ben Batt (Shameless) and Lesley Manville (Maleficent). This is a part of BBC One's classic 20th century novels season which will also include the adaptation of LADY CHATERLEY'S LOVER with Richard Madden, Holliday Grainger and James Norton!

Are you in love with ABC Family's hit comedy BABY DADDY like I am? TO GIVE 'THE SLAP' IN NBC'S CONTROVERSIAL MINI SERIES

After an extremely slow beginning of the week in the movie news business, some TV updates for you today, people: 'Entertainment Weekly' writes that Zachary Quinto has joined the cast of THE SLAP eight episode mini series, which will be NBC's US version of Australian hit TV show. It's a complex family drama about what happens after a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child. Quinto will play Harry, the slapper, married, with a 15-year-old son, a mechanic/dealer specializing in expensive European cars, lives with his family in a Brooklyn loft. Perennially angry but seemingly pleased with his life, Harry is a staunch believer in family and loyalty and never shies from picking a fight. However, Harry picks on the wrong guy when he slaps the horribly misbehaving child of another couple. Brian Cox will play a peacemaker in the family, with Peter Sarsgaard and Mary Louise Parker also in the cast.

RAMI MALEK IS 'MR. ROBOT'
USA Network has chosen Rami Malek as the lead in their new TV show MR. ROBOT in which he will play Elliot, a young programmer who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them.
NEW SITCOMS AT ABC
ABC has bought two new comedy series: COUCH DETECTIVE, about the exploits of a 30-something female “couch detective” who solves crimes based on her encyclopaedic knowledge of every true-crime TV special, police procedural and made for TV movie. NUCLEAR FAMILY, will, on the other hand, follow a pair of self professed altruists who adopted eight children from all over the world, some with special needs. Having bit off way more than they can chew, their radically different parenting styles have created a hurricane of teenage dysfunction, at the centre of which is their often overlooked only biological child.

THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE

ALEXA DAVALOS IS FEMALE LEAD

Meanwhile over at Amazon, Alexa Davalos has been cast as the female lead in their upcoming TV show THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, the small screen adaptation of Philip. K. Dick's novel which explores an alternative reality in which Nazi Germany and Japan won World War II and occupy the United States, with the East Coast controlled by the Nazis and the West Coast owned by Japan, and a chunk of the Midwest still up for grabs. Davalos will play Juliana, who lives in Japanese occupied San Francisco. She is fascinated by Japanese culture and has mastered the art of aikido, but her personal state of truce with the Empire Of Japan stops forever when her half sister Trudy is shot dead in front of her eyes by a Japanese soldier. Entrusted by Trudy with a black satchel containing a vital pro- Resistance propaganda film, Juliana heads east for Colorado, the secret headquarters of the Resistance, and the road ahead of her is very blurry and very dangerous. I'm spotlighting some of the smaller films opening up this month in cinemas, for you today starting with FIELD OF LOST SHOES, a historical drama  based on a true story of the American Civil War, culminating at the Battle of New Market in May 1864, when a group of teenage cadets, sheltered from war at the Virginia Military Institute, had to confront the horrors of an adult world after being called upon to defend the Shenandoah Valley. Leaving behind their youth, these cadets must decide what they are fighting for. Jason Isaacs, Tom Skerritt, Lauren Holly and David Arquette star!

The story of this touching drama will revolve around two longtime best friends (Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette), whose friendship is put to some serious test when Drew Barrymore's character decides to make a baby at the moment when Toni Collette's character is battling breast cancer. Dominic Cooper and Paddy Considine will portray their husbands, with Jacqueline Bisset playing Toni Collette's mother. The bad news is that the movie is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke (RED RIDING HOOD, TWILIGHT).

The American Horror Story actor will play King Uhtred in the eight hour epic series based on Bernard Cornwell's ninth century set book series. Real historical figures and events will be mixed with fictional characters during the reign of Alfred the Great, who as King of THE LAST KINGDOM fought off a Viking invasion. After Uhtred's noble Saxon parents are killed by the Vikings, the marauders kidnap him and raise him as one of their own. Meanwhile, British ITV has revealed the cast for their new period set six episode drama HOME FIRES which I recently announced as JAMBUSTERS! Based on Julie Summers' bestseller JAMBUSTERS, it will follow a group of inspirational women with fantastic spirit and attitude in a rural Cheshire community. With World War II on the horizon, multiple strands of plot interweave to create a period drama full of jeopardy and intrigue, but also great humanity and modernity! Samantha Bond (DOWNTON ABBEY) and Francesca Annis (DUNE, CRANFORD) will lead the cast, which also includes Mark Bonnar (Line of Duty), Ruth Gemmell (Utopia), Claire Rushbrook (My Mad Fat Diary), Mark Bazeley (The Suspicions of Mr Whicher), Frances Grey (The Widower) and Ed Stoppard (Cilla).

In the TV news from USA, beside the info that the untitled THE WALKING DEAD spinoff series has been officially ordered by AMC to be set in the same universe as the zombie series but with different characters, another update is that after ARROW and THE FLASH, their producer Greg Berlanti is looking to move SUPERGIRL to the small screens too! The new interpretation of the SUPERGIRL and her origin will be pitched to major networks in a few weeks, according to 'Deadline'! While DC is working on this possible series, Marvel is already preparing their female superhero series JESSICA JONES at Netflix.

According to 'The Hollywood Reporter' the story of the comedy will revolve around a young man (Zac Efron) who, just before his wedding, gets tricked by his perverted grandpa (Robert De Niro) to go on a road trip to Florida for spring break. The grandfather, a former U.S. Army General, tries to prove to his grandson that he is about to marry the wrong woman. As you know Robert De Niro will play a dynamic senior citizen in THE INTERN too, where he will play an elderly intern who offers help to a fashion website owner Anne Hathaway.

L, the good natured and wealthy friend of Mr Darcy! In the zombie version of Jane Austen's novel, Elizabeth Bennett's (Lily James) quest for love is set in the time of a vicious zombie outbreak. Wickham (Jack Huston) wants to teach the zombies how to fight, winning Elizabeth over with his theories on the undead soldiers. In TV news today, Amazon is preparing an American Civil War set historical series. POINT OF HONOUR will star Chris O'Shea and James Harvey Ward! The story follows a man and a woman who live as neighbours in a coastal town in North Carolina, before their relationship blossoms into a romance neither of them imagined would happen. Deadline also reports that famous ELEPHANT WHO CRIED will get his own movie! The movie will tell the heart wrenching story of Raju, the animal who had been kept in chains and abused for 50 years and cried when he was freed in the middle of the night by brave animal rights activists. The chains that kept him imprisoned for decades left abscessed wounds in his leg, he was starving and had sores all over its body, while his tail was plucked raw to sell hairs as good luck charms. Last month he was secretly taken to a sanctuary where he is now able to walk free, eat decent food (he had been eating plastic and paper in order to fill up his empty belly while in captivity), receive medical care, lounge in his favourite pool and mix with other elephants — none of which was provided to him during his 50 years of  life in clawed shackles that dug into his skin. The world is awaiting the court decision in India tomorrow on whether he will be returned to his molester who had sued the activists.

A delightful BBC One adaptation of Roald Dahl's ESIO TROT has been bought for USA distribution by the Weinstein Company. The 90 minute TV movie will see Dustin Hoffman playing Mr Hoppy, a retired bachelor who harbours a secret passion for his neighbour, Mrs Silver (Judi Dench). Unfortunately, she lavishes all her affection on Alfie… her pet tortoise. He devises a plot to win her affections, after he learns of her wish for Alfie to be bigger. James Corden and Ricky Gervais also star in the film.

NEW 'DRACULA UNTOLD' TRAILER

LUKE EVANS AND BATS ARE RULING MEDIEVAL WALACHIA

Universal has released a new trailer (which shows more than we've seen in the first one) for this Autumn's biggest epic adventure DRACULA UNTOLD which will see Welsh hunk Luke Evans grow some fangs on October 3rd in UK and 17th in USA. Also starring Dominic Cooper as the Turkish sultan, Samantha Barks as Baba Yaga, Sarah Gadon as Dracula's wife, Charlie Cox and Charles Dance, the story of this amazing historical adventure takes place in Romania during the Turkish invasion as Vlad Tepes (Luke Evans) goes to the greatest of lengths to fight for his homeland, even if it means selling his soul and becoming forever doomed as a creature of the night. He will become Dracula in order to protect his family and his country from the invading butchers of the Turkish sultan.

According to the latest rumours from Hollywood, DOWNTON ABBEY star Dan Stevens is currently the main contender for the lead role in the remake of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK! Charlie Hunnam and Jon Bernthal from THE WALKING DEAD are also in the run. The sf classic was set in a future world following convicted bank robber Snake Plissken who is tasked with saving the US president after Air Force One crashlands in Manhattan, which is now a maximum-security prison. Rumour has it that the producers will try to develop strong characters in the form of co-leads with possible sequels in mind. Some of them will include schizophrenic travel guide Cabbie, war journalist Mina, presidential security detail survivor Gareth and Snake's former crime partner Brain.

1ST 'MARCO POLO' EPIC TV SHOW

Sometime ago I've shown you the first set pictures from Netflix historical adventure series MARCO POLO but now we have the official ones. The series, produced by the Weinstein company, will have all of it's ten episodes available for viewing at Netflix from December 12th! You can now see the first images of Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy as the famed explorer whose journey takes him to the  centre of a brutal war in 13th century China, a world replete with exotic  martial arts, political skulduggery, spectacular battles and sexual intrigue.
