FEELGOOD COMEDY MOVIE TRAILER
Here is something heartwarming for you today: a trailer for German movie drama AGNES & AMIR which is out in their cinemas this November based on an inspiring true story with Beta Film handling the international sales. The film follows Iranian Amir (Bardo Böhlefeld), who is waiting to hear if his refugee status in Germany will be accepted or whether he’ll be deported. He moves into the Berlin apartment of Agnes (Katharina Thalbach, one of Germany's most acclaimed actresses), a 101-year-old who is trying to avoid being sent to live in a retirement home. Despite their differences, the flatmates form a close bond that helps them confront the challenges that life throws their way.

    1. It is very moving, showing that we are all people capable of love and understanding no matter where we come from and how old or young we are.

  3. I hope I don't make it to 101. I hope I don't make it to where a nursing home is necessary. My aunt is almost 90. She's been super independent until this year. She's been in and out of nursing homes where they aren't feeding her, they put her to bed in her underwear straight from the shower still wet and don't give her a blanket, don't change her diaper often. I don't blame the lady in the movie trying to avoid it. It sounds like death would be the better option.

    1. Such things happen in America? Why is the media not responding to it?

    2. Because it's a nationwide occurrence. They are always cutting our healthcare and Medicare funding, so the nursing homes are short staffed. The aids they hire are underpaid, overworked, and just want to make it to the end of their shift. Many don't care about the patients. They just want a paycheck.

I'm reading "No More Tears" about Johnson and Johnson pharmaceuticals and how they push many of the nursing homes to prescribe a schizophrenic medicine to the elderly to keep them quiet so the staff don't have to deal with them. The USA is a shit hole when it comes to healthcare, but especially devastating when it comes to elderly care.

    3. I imagine it will be getting worse, as they are trying to cancel pensions as well by increasing the years you have to have for retirement, it will soon be close to 70 and then they might just force us to work till we drop dead, which will certainly be my case as my profession does not even have pension.
