  1. Never heard of the Homeless World Cup. Hope they were all able to better their lives after the tournament. I feel like so many are just a missed paycheck or two away from being homeless in this economy. I know eventually it will turn back around, but I think this year is going to be rough for many. I know several people who have been relying on food banks to get by because with raising costs, they can't afford to put food on the table anymore. These are people with good paying jobs, but inflation has made it damn near impossible to survive anymore.

    1. At least you have food banks, we don't even know what that is here LOL Us beggars used to live on bread, carrots, tomatoes and potatoes, now even those are all expensive.

    2. That's sad that your churches and such don't have food pantry where the poor can come get food for their families. We do have state run food bank, but a lot are organized through the churches. Those donations come from grocers who have either surplus or need a tax write off, community drives where bins are placed at supermarkets and we can buy extra and donate in the bins on our way out, and farmers donate produce as well. Even the schools will send the poor students home with meals over the weekend if they know they have nothing to eat. The heck are your churches doing with the money that is tithed to them if not feeding the poor like Jesus did?

    3. We have a Red Cross kitchen but that is only for the poorest, like homeless people, not like in your country where they come to lunch in cars. Our vision of poor is totally different here. Poor here is below any standard of basic human dignity, while in USA even the beggars can afford themselves a macburger and coke. Poorest pensioners here live on 150$ a month and most of us on a $500 or lower salary a month, not a week. Also we are not a religious country, church is not so widespread and most people never visit them. Our priests drive expensive cars and live in their courts and you have to pay them richly to do a sermon when you die.

    4. Maybe someone should start some community gardens there. We have them all over the city too. Tended by the community, used by the community. When the government really effs us, we are only going to have ourselves to rely on. People need to get back to learning how to garden to feed ourselves. Allison just bought herself a lot of seeds and has my windowsills full of little pots learning to container garden. I think this is a skill that's becoming a past time and it's dangerous to sit back and hope that any country will come to the rescue if crap hits the fan (and I think it will).

    5. We are too poor to even have our own gardens as water and seeds are expensive, let alone community ones. When you are really poor even the basic stuff that you considered available there are unavailable here. To make things worse, our dictator has ruined our agriculture and we are down with arable land by 40% in last ten years and very soon we will be forced to import all food even though before him we were the untouched gem of Europe.

    6. Our country will do the same, eventually. We're selling our souls piece by piece to China. We have so much food imported and it's ridiculous when we have so much land. The government actually pays farmers to NOT farm their land. Like, what!?

    7. It is ridiculous. Everything is systematically ruined here so that he could sells us to the west.
