FROM MERTEUIL FRENCH COSTUME SERIES

Max has revealed first images from their new French original series MERTEUIL which has started shooting in Normandy back in September with Anamaria Vartolomei (Isabelle de Merteuil), Diane Kruger (Madame de Rosemonde), Vincent Lacoste (Vicomte de Valmont) and Lucas Bravo (Comte de Gercourt). With grandiose and intimate settings, from the cliffs of  Normandy to the châteaux of Ile-de-France, the series follows Marquise de Merteuil who, betrayed by Valmont, embarks on a daring journey to become Paris’ leading courtesan! To be the hero of your own story, you sometimes have to be the villain in others. English title for the series will be THE SEDUCTION. It will be a free adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

December 21, 1988, after 270 people were killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over the Scottish town. And they have also confirmed January 2nd as the start date for the new series. Colin Firth stars as Jim Swire, the nominated spokesperson for the UK victims’ families who unite to demand truth and justice. Jim travels across continents and political divides, embarking on a relentless journey that not only jeopardizes his stability, family and life, but completely overturns his trust in the justice system. The series will air on January 2nd and should not be mixed with another Lockerbie series which BBC and Netflix are preparing with Connor Swindells.

Channel 5 has just ordered a new five episode mini series THE RUMOUR which will have Oscar winner Rachel Shenton as the lead next to Joanne Whalley, Samuel Anderson, Emily Atack and Ellie Haddington among others.

Rachel will be Joanna who moves with her young son, Alfie, to the quiet town of Flinstead, seeking a fresh start. The first season aired at the beginning of January 2023, so it has been almost two years since then, but the second season of the deeply suspenseful apocalyptic series THE RIG is now returning January 2nd, 2025 and Prime Video has sent us the first trailer for it to prove it! Iain Glenn, Martin Compston, Emily Hampshire and Owen Teale all return to the cast alongside newcomers Ross Anderson, Phil McKee, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Johannes Roaldsen Fürst and Alice Krige (The Borg queen from Star Trek series). Today we have one of our favourite of Australian actors Ryan Corr in a trailer for new family comedy movie KANGAROO based on true events around the man who opened a Kangaroo sanctuary in Alice Springs. Ryan Corr stars as ex-TV weather presenter Chris Masterman, who becomes stranded in an Outback town after a car accident and forms an unlikely friendship with an 11-year-old Indigenous girl, Charlie, played by newcomer Lily Whiteley. They work together to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned joeys in a remote but stunning Outback community, an endeavour that proves to be life-changing for them both. The film is out next year.

Paramount + has unveiled first image from their new six part UK original series LITTLE DISASTERS about  four friends who were thrown together while expectant mothers with little in common apart from their due dates. When Jess (Diane Kruger) takes her baby daughter to hospital with a head injury she can’t explain, close friend and on-duty doctor Liz (Jo Joyner) is forced to make the excruciating decision as to whether to call social services on her friend. The decision sets of a chain of events that show how a moment can fracture and nearly destroy families and friendships. Shelley Con and Emily Taaffe will be the other two friends with JJ Feild, Ben Bailey Smith and Stephen Campbell Moore leading the male part of the cast.

ITV ORDERS A SIX PART HISTORICAL SERIES MAJESTY ON THE YOUTH OF QUEEN ELIZABETH I

Although the previous effort was godawful (the unwatchable Becoming Elizabeth from Starz with atrociously bad lead actress, dreary visuals and no story) we will see old Bess again on the small screens, or, to be more precise, not old but young as Grey’s Anatomy showrunners Joan Rater, Tony Phelan and William Harper are creating a six episode historical series MAJESTY for ITV. It will present a reimagination of the life of a young Elizabeth I and her place in the court of King Henry VIII, based on conspiracy theories which surrounded her as a young woman. Was the Virgin Queen hiding a profound secret? And how did this overlooked, embattled princess become the most powerful ruler England has ever known? James Strong will be helming the drama next year with Studiocanal handling the international distribution.
