  IN THE 19TH CENTURY RUSSIA
In the 60s of the 19th century, tzar Alexander II carried out a number of liberal reforms, one of which was judicial. An important innovation was the openness of jury trials and the right of any defendant on defense. Thus, by the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s in St. Petersburg and Moscow, a separate group of lawyers began to stand out among lawyers, many of whom were real stars, and high-profile trials with their participation began to attract hundreds of spectators, competing with theatrical performances. Fyodor Plevako was one of the most prominent heroes of that time. In addition to his outstanding oratorical talent and natural ingenuity, he had another important feature that distinguished him from other lawyers - he  originated from the ordinary people. Being illegitimate himself, Plevako perfectly understood ordinary people and truly wanted to help them, which made him a people's favorite! He was striving to protect any client, regardless of their status and financial situation.

WHO ELSE IS IN THE CAST?
Each of the ten episodes will cover some of his famous cases. But it is worth noting that the series is not biographical and is only inspired by historical events. Zoya Berber, Ksenia Traister, Daniil Vorobyov, Igor Gordin and many others will also star in the series that had been shooting since November last year with the crew moving all around the country using also snowy exteriors last winter. The production is now done and the series is ready for airing this season.

  1. Who is the woman with short curly hair? She is beautiful. If it weren't spoken in Russian, I would probably take this as a British series.
p.s Black lentils, like French green lentils, need to cook much longer than red lentils and they won't get mushy and hold their shapes nicely.

    1. It is not a short hair, but tied in a bun, they used to wear it curly on top like that and it looked like it was short, back in the older days you would wear your hair down only for your man, not outside, as it was considered too seductive and vixenish.

Oy, then I would not like the black ones, I do not like the green or brown ones either, just the red ones which are probably the most versatile food in the world.
