CHOCOLAT BECOMING
A NEW FRENCH TV SERIES
|
It will be a French language series
|
After the 2000 movie adaptation,
Joanne Harris's international bestseller
CHOCOLAT will get a French TV series version as well from
Miramax TV and
Atlantique productions. The series, that will use both the books from Joanne's series and the film as its source material, will follow a woman and her daughter who settle down in a small town in modern-day France and disrupt the community’s social balance when they open a chocolate shop.
Bill Block and
Pierre-Antoine Capton will executive produce. And in other French series news,
BBC Two will air
Marie Antoinette during the holidays, while Foxtel is already streaming it down in Australia, with PBS releasing it in USA next March. PBS has also renewed
Miss Scarlet and the Duke for fourth season today and it is already shooting over in Serbia!
I did like the movie Chocolat. I love the idea of a tv series! How wonderful does it sound to open up a little chocolate shop in France? Almost as good as our tea plantation dreams, eh?
ReplyDeleteI read the book this year and wrote a review, it was lovely, the only thing I did not like was the forced romance in it, you could feel that the editors forced Harris to put the sex scene in it even though it was not needed. I also liked that it was not overly violent and graphic.
DeleteI agree. Not every story has to have romance. Maybe that's why I liked Disney's Brave. There was no prince charming to come save her. The romance wasn't needed and it was a fantastic film without it. When it feels forced, the whole story goes to crap.
DeleteBrave is my fave too, because of all the green colour LOL The fact it plonked just proves that people only like beautiful people.
DeleteIdk, I thought she was one of the more beautiful princesses that Disney has made. Then again, I've always thought long red curly hair was pretty. Probably because my first best friend ever was a fiery redhead and it always makes me think of her.
DeleteYes, but she was masculine, not feminine, and the audience usually wants feminine princesses, that is why it was not as successful as others. Frosen was such a hit because Elsa is such a beauty.
