RUPERT FRIEND TO PLAY
FAMOUS ROMANIAN CONDUCTOR
After his brilliant role this year in Anatomy of a Scandal, handsome Rupert Friend will play Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache in THE YELLOW TIE movie
with John Malkovich. In a film helmed by the conductor's son, the two of them will play younger and older Celibidache whose incredible life was unknown to many of those who worshipped his music.
Rupert Friend will play the younger conductor |
After telling his father he planned to pursue a career in music, he was
kicked out of home and experienced homelessness. Travelling to Berlin to
pursue his dream he encountered discrimination and prejudice but after
surviving World War II he beat the odds to win a competition that saw
him become the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s youngest ever conductor.
He went on to become one of the twentieth century’s most iconic
conductors. His unorthodox approach to music as well as his politics
made him a contentious figure in his home country and throughout the
classical music world.

Peripheral looks intriguing.
ReplyDeleteIt's from Westworld producers.
DeleteThe Yellow Tie I’d watch. The sci-fi one I’ll take a pass on.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the fence with Peripheral myself, it is both interesting to me and very much not, if that makes any sense.
DeleteThe Yellow Tie sounds like a really good movie! I'm curious if WW2 impacted his music style also.
ReplyDeleteWell, he was a conductor, not a composer, not sure conductors have a style, but maybe they do, the only one I remember is Leopold from Bugs Bunny LOL
