INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE
JACOB ANDERSON CAST AS LOUIS
Well, I cannot exactly say I'm thrilled, because he was so bland and unnoticeable in Game of Thrones and has zero charisma, but AMC has just
cast Jacob Anderson in their eight part small screen adaptation of INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE which already has our dearest Sam Reid as Lestat. The story follows Louis who, born as an 18th century lord, is now a bicentennial vampire, telling his story to an eager biographer. Suicidal after the death of his family, he meets Lestat, a vampire who persuades him to choose immortality over death and become his companion. Eventually, gentle Louis resolves to leave his violent maker, but Lestat guilts him into staying by turning a young girl whose addition to the "family" breeds even more conflict. I've heard somewhere that the story will be changed a bit and Louis will be an owner of a brothel not a French plantation owner.

WHEEL OF TIME EPIC SERIES
FIRST LOOK AT THE HEROES
Wheel of Time arrives this November |
WHAT IS THE SERIES ABOUT?
The cast of the new epic fantasy series is lead by Rosamund
Pike as Moiraine Damodred and Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran! The series
follows Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), who leads a small and
humble life in a small town called the Two Rivers. There is danger
lurking, however, in the potential attacks from the Dark One, an evil
entity that wants to destroy
everything. A sorceress, and a member of the incredibly powerful, all female organization called the Aes Sedai, by the name of
Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) takes Rand and his friends away from their
home, as she believes one of them might be the reincarnation of the
Dragon, an ancient hero who is prophesized to either save or destroy the
world.

I am afraid I will have to pass these two..they are just not my cup of tea..
ReplyDeleteWe might get that Julia Child series this Autumn too, but I'm not sure.
DeleteReally? Julia Child. That would be fun. Could somebody explain how could a Black actor portray a white French aristocrat who owns a plantation full of slaves?
DeleteYes, over at HBO.
DeleteThis is why they will turn him into an owner of a whorehouse :)
Sadly, the HBO thing that is coming in autumn is a documentary on Julia Child that is supposed to be a companion for the series that is still in production.
DeleteI thought they finished shooting the series back in Spring as I remember seeing photos from the sets.
DeleteThis is where I heard about the documentary.

But the live action series will air on HBO Max not HBO.
DeleteI've read an interview with ITV boss and he confirmed that they won't be doing much of costume drama in the future. He says we loved BELGRAVIA and SANDITON and BEECHAM HOUSE so much but they all flopped. The prick thinks we are to be blamed, not his poor choice in scripts and writers. They are all doing just crime crime crime. BBC started with Vigil last night, but I cannot stand Surrane Jones, so I ain't watching.
I almost didn’t watch “The Courier” because Brosnahan was in it. I agree that Belgravia and Beecham House were flops, too boring. But Sanditon was hardly a fiasco. It had a solid fandom that has gotten it two more seasons. ITV is caught in a dilemma: bow to political correction or lose funds and an epic series is very expensive, so they’’ll rely on subgenres such as Regency Romance (like Sanditon) , historical whodunits (like Miss Scarlett) and retro drama (anything that happens between 1958 and 1998). We’ll have to rely on continental Europe to hold de fort on the making of real period dramas.
DeleteNo, Sanditon was tragic in UK, went below three million after the first episode which is very low for UK but it was passably good in USA where they have a strong Theo Me Some James fandom. They really struggled with numbers ever since they disappointed viewers with those woke crap stories in the second and third seasons of Victoria, after that people just do not believe them anymore. Hope it will just a be a passing trend.
DeleteWell, I'm glad Malena pointed that out about the casting of the black lead because I was thinking the exact same thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you pointed out the cheap ass looking costumes. I was expecting something epic given the budget, but hey oh, what a let down these first images!
I hope it will look better in the trailer, but these photos are really sad, don't know why they picked them out.
DeleteMaybe they'll do like in "Bridgerton"and create an alternate XVIII Louisiana as a non-racist diverse society LOL!
DeleteProbably. They seem to change damn near every story these days to follow the woke crowd.
DeleteThe backclash is already massive around the net, I feel sorry for my Sammy Reid, because he deserves a better partner in it.
DeleteI'm with you on the cheap looking costumes, but I'm still willing to give this one a try!
ReplyDeleteIt is not like we have anything else to watch in November, nor September, nor October LOL
