'THE NAME OF THE ROSE'
1ST PHOTO FROM RAI TV SERIES
Speaking of epic drama, check out the first image from Italian Rai's English language series
THE NAME OF THE ROSE which will air next spring. Set in Italy in 1327, it follows the Franciscan monk William of Baskerville (
John Turturro) and his novice Adso von Melk
(Damian Hardung) as they arrive

will air the series in UK, Sky in Germany, OCS in France. Sundance TV
will air it in USA and Canada with local broadcaster airing it around

at a secluded monastery in the Alps. There they become witnesses to a series of mysterious murders. While Baskerville and Melk investigate and search for the killer, they are hunted themselves by the merciless inquisitor Bernard Gui (
Rupert Everett), who prosecutes those who criticize the Pope.
Judging by the above photos, the actors appearing in them will, no doubt, bring credibility and authenticity to the new version of "Les Miserables" on the screen.
ReplyDeleteas much as we can believe that Lily is really old enough to play Ellie's mother :) I think they're quite the same age.
DeleteI read and enjoyed both novels on which these series are based. I look forward to seeing them on TV!
ReplyDeleteAnd they will air in Canada too, hooray!
DeleteThey do look good. I will be looking forward to watching both.
ReplyDeleteStrangely, BBC hasn't had any epic drama this season so far, just thrillers, so this will be a welcoming change.
DeleteTwo masterpieces of literature, to see and reread ...
ReplyDeletehope we get trailers for both of them soon
DeleteLook at all those photos. Stunning! And I love the costumes so much, Dezzy..thinking of trying one :)
ReplyDeleteI'd look like a joke in those tight belly and junk revealing men pants :))))
