As you all probably well remember your trusted spy was among the first ones to inform you about this one and then kept you informed throughout the years about it, but now we can feast our eyes on our lieblings Jannis Niewohner in the brand new images from RTL+ series adaptation of HAGEN epic fantasy saga inspired by the Nibelung myths! Freemantle is doing the world wide distribution and will present it to the buyers this Friday at London TV Screeningss. 

 

THE STORY OF HAGEN EPIC TV SERIES

follows weapons master Hagen (Gijs Naber) as he keeps a crisis-ridden kingdom together, while hiding his secret love for the king’s daughter Kriemhild (Lilja van der Zwaag) and his own unpredictability. He is forced to decided between love and loyalty after the inexperienced king asks dragonslayer Siegfried von Xanten (Jannis Niewöhner) to help him secure the hand of the dangerous Valkyrie Brunhild in marriage. Dominic Marcus Singer, Rosalinde Mynster, Jördis Triebel and JörgHartmann also star.

The project will be made into a cinematic film and six part TV series

You will remember that our favourite German star Jannis led Maximilian epic TV series, Turncoat WW2 drama and Narcissus und Goldmund medieval movie and Felix Krull.

Over at London TV Screenings Irish broadcaster RTE will be presenting a four hour drama based on the novel by Karen Perry THE BOY THAT NEVER WAS starring Colin Morgan and Toni O'Rourke with Kerr Logan and Simon Callow also in the cast. In Dublin, Harry thinks he glimpses in a crowd a six-year-old boy who he’s convinced is his son Dillon, disappeared in an earthquake in Morocco three years before. His obsession tears apart his marriage, exposing shameful secrets.

Also joining London TV Screenings is new thriller TV series RED EYE which will stream on ITVX. In this action-packed thriller, Jing Lusi stars in the role of police officer Hana Li who escorts Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage) when he is renditioned to China from the U.K. When inexplicable deaths occur onboard the red eye flight raise, Li forms an unlikely alliance with Head of MI5 Madeleine Delaney and journalist Jess Li, her sister, to uncover a wider global conspiracy. 

FROM BBC'S LOST BOYS AND FAIRIES

British broadcaster will, meanwhile, present their new gay TV series LOST BOYS AND FAIRIES. Set in Cardiff, this tender, and possibly tear-jerking, drama shows a longtime gay couple, happy with their life and finally getting ready to adopt a child. Or so they think, as this big step will force at least one of them – seemingly fearless drag artist Gabriel (Sion Daniel Young) – to revisit painful memories that marked his childhood following his mother’s passing. The very same ones he already tried his best to forget. Fra Fee takes the other male lead as Andy!

This heralded ten years of Britain as a republic before, in May 1660, the monarchy was restored with the accession of King Charles II. While publicly planning his own lavish coronation to take place the following year, in April 1661, the new king had, behind the scenes, ordered an exhaustive search for the death warrant ordering his father’s execution. On finding it and the 59 signatories appended to it, Charles ordered the biggest manhunt in royal history. Told through dramatic reconstruction, with the actors serving as primary storytellers – Sheila Atim for the Royalists, Jared Harris for the Regicides, and Joseph Fiennes for King Charles II – the mini-series plays out as a Jacobean tragedy detailing the king’s lifelong obsession to hunt down, try and kill all those responsible for his father’s execution and his own desperate flight into exile.

BUT RUSSIAN VERSION IN PRODUCTION

New Zorro will air on TV3 in Russia

While you can watch the latest Spanish version of popular ZORRO over at Amazon Prime, Russian channel TV 3 has announced work on their own version of it, but in it the masked hero is over in Russia of course. It is not yet, though, known who will play the lead role even though we have the first mysterious images from the new adventure series revealing the masked hero riding his black steed through the snow. We even have a first teaser for the series which will be set in year 1840. With the action of the new series set to take place in Russia of the early 19th century, the Mexican folk avenger ends up there pursued by the hired killers of the governor of California. TV 3 is also airing the latest Spanish version which hit Prime Video earlier in January. It is interesting that after the major streamers and channels from USA have left Russia, domestic streamers and broadcasters have been having a massive increase in viewership which influenced the capital and creative juices flowing much more potent and thus so many great new projects, both for the small and the big screen, are currently brewing over in Russia.

Nolly starts March 17th on PBS

While this is already available for streaming as of this month over at ITVX for viewers in United Kingdom, it will hit Northern American audience March 17th when the three episode mini series NOLLY will start airing on PBS. If I got it right it will also stream on Foxtel in Australia and it had its linear UK premiere on ITV during New Year holidays. Created by Russell T. Davies, this series is exploring the reign, and fall from grace, of the inimitable British soap star, Noele Gordon played by Helena Bonham Carter. The cast also includes Max Brown, Mark Gattis, and Augustus Prew.

 NOLLY MINI TV SERIES TELLS THE STORY OF 

Noele (Helena Bonham Carter) who was a legend in her own lifetime. As flame-haired widow Meg Richardson in the long-running soap opera Crossroads, she was one of the most famous people in Britain. Then in 1981, at the height of the show’s success and the peak of Nolly’s fame, she was axed without ceremony, without warning and with no explanation. With the boss’s words “all good things must come to an end” ringing in her ears, Noele Gordon found herself thrown out of the show that was her life for over 18 years. She seeks revenge – but de Sade will actually be her partner in crime. Gebbe is also preparing A Thousand Blows period set series for Disney+.

Historians believe that had it not been for Heminges and Condell’s efforts, half of Shakespeare’s works would not be known to us today.
