BBC has revealed the first cast photo for their upcoming drama series TO WALK INVISIBLE which takes a new look at Bronte sisters, who, despite the obstacles they faced, came from obscurity to produce some of the greatest novels in the English language. Wuthering Heights author Emily Brontë is played by Chloe Pirrie, Jane Eyre author Charlotte by Finn Atkins with their youngest sister Anne played by Charlie Murphy. Their brilliant but reckless brother Branwell, whose destructive behaviour threatened to destroy his family, will be played by Adam Nagaitis. Jonathan Pryce plays their father.

The first trailer launched this week is an international one for Werner Herzog's SALT AND FIRE starring Michael Shannon and Gael Garcia Bernal. The movie, which was shot in just a little bit more than two weeks, is out in German cinemas next month and in French ones from December!

ABC will produce THE CROSSING sf series from Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie which revolves around refugees from a war torn country who start showing up seeking asylum in a U.S. city but the country these people are from is America, and the war they are fleeing is 500 years in the future

In the trailer department, you can check out the second trailer for epic adventure THE GREAT WALL which is out in China this December and in USA next February directed by legendary Zhang Yimou!  A mix of epic adventure, history and fantasy, the movie follows an epic battle for humanity in which an elite force makes a heroic stand atop the Great Wall of China. Andy Lau, Willem Dafoe and Pedro Pascal lead the international cast. Although the movie looks visually breathtaking the casting of Matt Damon in it looks like a very sad joke indeed.

As 'Deadline' reports today, the filming has started on the biopic of PROFESSOR MARSTON, about the man who created Wonder Woman. Luke Evans plays the lead role!

PROFESSOR MARSTON is about Dr. William Moulton Marston, Harvard psychologist and inventor who created Wonder Woman in 1941, his wife, fellow psychologist Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), and their poly amorous relationship with Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote), a former student of Marston’s and an academic in her own right. Marston created famous Amazonian princess with significant input from both his wife and their lover. After he died from cancer in 1947, Elizabeth and Olive raised their children by Marston together and remained a couple. The film will explore how Marston dealt with the controversy surrounding his creation while he and his partners navigated and concealed a romantic and family life that, if exposed, could have destroyed them all.

In December 1898, with the signing of the Treaty of Paris between Spain and the US, the war was finally ended between the two countries and Spain ceded sovereignty over the Philippines to the United States. Lovely news coming from 'The Wrap' today: charming young Brit Nicholas Hoult will apparently take the role of legendary Serbian genius and scientist Nikola Tesla in THE CURRENT WAR a movie about Thomas Edison played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

THE CURRENT WAR takes place in the late 1880s and revolves around power titans Edison and George Westinghouse’s (Michael Shannon) battle over the supply of electricity. Edison championed the use of a direct current for electric power distribution over an alternating current, which was backed by several European companies and Westinghouse Electric. Although a great scientist, Edison was not a good man, and Tesla, as an honourable and hard working man, later on opposed him often after being mistreated many times by jealous Edison.

'KRYPTON' SF SERIES

In TV news today, the lead actor has been found for SyFy's sf series KRYPTON: young Cameron Cuffe will play Superman's grandfather in the series set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. As 'Deadline' reports, it follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, whose House of El was ostracised and shamed, as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos. Destined to be the ancestor of Jor-El (future father of Superman) and Kal-El (the future Superman), Seg-El is the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical. He now is living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank. Georgina Campbell will play Lyta Zod.

Meanwhile, back in Europe, Italian national broadcaster RAI has released late last night the official video for 'Renaissance' from Skunk Anansie's singer Skin which will serve as the opening song of their lavish new period set epic series MEDICI: MASTERS OF FLORENCE which starts airing over there on October 17th and later on around the world starring Richard Madden as the prince of the famous clan or rulers who takes over the family business and gets into war against its enemies after his father, played by Dustin Hoffman, dies under suspicious circumstances. Seven part series will star Jim Sturgess, Alfie Allen, Alfred Molina, Angela Bassett and Freddie Highmore in a story set in a bombed London hotel in the aftermath of WWII following intelligence officer Captain Callum Ferguson (Sturgess) whose last task for the Army is to ensure that a captured German scientist, Dieter urgently starts working for the British RAF to develop the jet engine. Callum uses unorthodox methods in his attempt to convince Dieter and the two form a friendship. But tensions soon arise, as all is not as it seems.

NEW CAST MEMBERS FOR 'TERROR' EPIC TV SERIES

A bunch of television updates for you, today, a round up of telly news I didn't get to present you this week! I've already informed you that Tobias Menzies will star in the mini TV series based on Dan Simmons novel THE TERROR and now he is joined by Jared Harris, Ciaran Hinds, Paul Ready and Adam Nagaitis. Set in 1847, it follows Royal Naval expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage where it is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crew in a suspenseful and desperate game of survival.

DYNASTY GETS A REMAKE!
Meanwhile, CW is planning a remake of famous TV soap DYNASTY. Done this time by Gossip Girls creators, and the original show creators the Shapiros,  it will follow two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. It will be told primarily through the perspectives of Fallon Carrington, daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington, and her stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into the family and America’s most powerful class.

JOHN LEGEND JOINS UNDER GROUND

And if you liked the first season of UNDERGROUND epic series which followed the destiny of black slaves in the Civil War America, you will be happy to hear that music star John Legend has joined the 2nd season cast as  iconic abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who went from a slave to a writer and a speaker.

While Hulu is preparing A Handmaid's Tale sf series based on Margaret Atwood's novel, another of her novels THE HEART GOES LAST will be made into TV series by MGM TV. It follows a young urban couple who have been hit by bankruptcy in the midst of a nationwide economic collapse. Forced to live in their Honda, where they are vulnerable to roving gangs, they think the gated community of Consilience might be the answer to their prayers. If they sign a life contract, they’ll get a job and a lovely house for six months out of the year. On alternating months, residents must leave their homes and serve as inmates in the Positron prison system. At first, this seems worth it: They will have a roof over their heads and food on the table. But after a series of troubling events, Positron begins to look less like a prayer answered and more like a chilling prophecy fulfilled.

It will follow a female teacher and a renowned surgeon who spend together a night which will change their lives even though neither fully realizes the far reaching consequences that their meeting will have on each other or their families.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, right? The most translated book by a living author, Paolo Coelho's worldwide bestseller THE ALCHEMIST will be adapted into a big screen feature movie by Sony TriStar and Laurence Fishburne's production company who bought the rights for a very pricey amount! The book, which has been sold so far in around 65 million copies in 56 different languages, revolves around a young Spaniard who embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure within the Egyptian pyramids.

 FINDS ITS LADY MONTAGUE!

Meanwhile, the latest one to join ABC's upcoming midseason period set drama series STILL STAR CROSSED a sequel to Romeo and Juliet story is Claire Cooper who will play Lady Montague, a master manipulator and a woman with a dark past and dangerous secrets, in the show that picks up where the story of Romeo and Juliet ends, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. Anthony Head and Zuleikha Robinson play lord and lady Capulet, Grant Bowler is lord Montague, Torrance Coombs is prince Paris, Wade Briggs is Benvolio Montague who together with Sterling Sulieman as prince Escalus and Lashana Lynch as Juliet's cousin Rosaline actually are the lead characters in the new love triangle.
