After the teaser back in April, Angel Studios has now released a trailer for their historical epic movie ZERO A.D. which is scheduled to arrive to cinemas ahead of the holidays, December 19th with quite a stellar cast which includes  Sam Worthington, Ben Mendelsohn, Gael García Bernal and Jim Caviezel with Deva Cassel as Virgin Mary. Previously known as Betlehem it has the following synopsis: Before kings and empires feared him, a tyrant sought to erase him. A newborn child ignites a prophetic war. A ruthless prince seeks to crush the prophecy that threatens his father’s rule. And an unlikely mother is forced into the center of a battle between power and destiny. This is the untold origin of a revolution where faith is tested, courage is forged, and the forces of darkness fight to extinguish the light. TO PLAY MAGELLAN IN  A NEW MOVIE

With an aim to possibly premiere it at Cannes, Lav Diaz is preparing a historical movie MAGELLAN on 16th Century Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan to be played by Gael Garcia Bernal. Originally titled Beatriz, The Wife, the film was inspired by the life of Magellan’s wife Beatriz Barbosa de Magallanes. They married in 1517, living together for just two years before Magellan set off on an expedition to southeast Asia, from which he would never return. As Deadline reports, the new, two and a half hour long version will focus more on the explorer and his travels and less on his wife.

Deadline has first images from the set of new historical epic movie BETHLEHEM from Alejandro Monteverde which depicts Herod’s slaughter of the innocents in Bethlehem! In this profound spiritual thriller shooting over in Morocco for a 2025 theatrical release, an extraordinary woman will do anything to protect her newborn son from the murderous King Herod, who is obsessed with finding and killing the child. Sam Worthington is playing Herod’s son Antipater, Ben Mendelsohn is the devil Nahash, Gael García Bernal is Joachim, and Deva Cassel, Vincent's daughter with Monica Belucci, will play Mary.

It ain't a happy thing for sure, but we're haunted by the dead, today, people! The first trailer and poster have been released for Emilia Clarke's VOICE FROM THE STONE supernatural period set thriller horror based on a novel by Silvio Raffo!

Out at the end of April, VOICE FROM THE STONE  is a haunting romance set in 1950s Tuscany. Verena, a solemn nurse, is brought to aid a young boy named Jakob who has fallen silent since the untimely death of his mother nearly a year ago. Living with his father in a massive stone manor in Tuscany, Jakob not only refuses to speak, he seems to be under the spell of a malevolent force trapped within the stone walls. As Verena’s relationship with the father (Marton Csokas) and son grow, she becomes ensnared and consumed by the severe force. If she is to save the boy, and free herself, she must face the phantom hidden inside the stone.

As 'Deadline' reports today, the latest one to join the big screen adaptation of A WRINKLE IN TIME is Chris Pine! He will apparently be Mr. Murray, father to the main character Meg, played by Storm Reid, and husband to Dr. Kate Murray played by Gugu Mbatha Raw!

A WRINKLE IN TIME follows a young girl whose government scientist father has gone missing after working on a mysterious project called a tesseract, which involves being transported to a fifth dimension with mysterious inhabited planets. She takes part in a search for her father and sees some incredible creatures along the way.

From Chile comes the trailer for the movie which will represent them at this year's Oscar nominations race for best foreign film. NERUDA, in which Gael Garcia Bernal plays an inspector charged to hunt down Nobel Prize winning Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (Luis Gnecco), who becomes a fugitive in his home country in the late 1940s for joining the Communist Party.The movie will have its North American release from December 16th!

BBC has revealed the first cast photo for their upcoming drama series TO WALK INVISIBLE which takes a new look at Bronte sisters, who, despite the obstacles they faced, came from obscurity to produce some of the greatest novels in the English language. Wuthering Heights author Emily Brontë is played by Chloe Pirrie, Jane Eyre author Charlotte by Finn Atkins with their youngest sister Anne played by Charlie Murphy. Their brilliant but reckless brother Branwell, whose destructive behaviour threatened to destroy his family, will be played by Adam Nagaitis. Jonathan Pryce plays their father.

The first trailer launched this week is an international one for Werner Herzog's SALT AND FIRE starring Michael Shannon and Gael Garcia Bernal. A scientist blames the head of a large company for an ecological disaster in South America. But when a volcano begins to show signs of erupting, they must unite to avoid a disaster. The movie, which was shot in just a little bit more than two weeks, is out in German cinemas next month and in French ones from December!

WILL BE FUTURISTIC ZORRO!

In these seven or so years that Dezzy has been spying for you, methinks we've mentioned ZORRO projects at least a dozen of times and they never really came to fruition, but now it has been revealed that Jonas Cuaron, who is directing a ZORRO movie titled Z (originally known as ZORRO REBORN), has offered the lead role to Gael Garcia Bernal! Although details on the script are very sparse right now, it has been rumoured before that it will be a futuristic take on the famous legend  set in the near future. Bernal has already worked with director Jonas Cuaron on DESIERTO drama which is out in cinemas later this year.
