HELEN MIRREN TO LEAD SWITZERLAND

In casting reel today, Helen Mirren and Alden Ehrenreich will star in Anton Corbijn's thriller movie SWITZERLAND together with Olivia Cooke. Mirren will play crime novelist and Tom Ripley creator Patricia Highsmith in the film based on a play about Highsmith’s encounter with a young literary agent (Ehrenreich). Set in 1995, an ageing Patricia Highsmith is living a secluded existence in the Swiss Alps with only her cats for company. When a pushy young man turns up at her residence, sent by her New York publisher to persuade her to write a final book in her best-selling Tom Ripley series, it becomes clear he is on a more sinister mission.

Joan Collins will lead the biopic

Meanwhile, our favourite soap star diva Joan Collins will lead Wallis Simpson biopic THE BITTER END from legendary Mike Newell about the American woman who married King Edward VIII and upended the British monarchy. The film will bring us the shocking untold story of Simpson’s final years.

 

MORFYDD CLARK TO LEAD ARCTIC SKIES

Rings of Power Galadriel Morfydd Clark is set to lead UFO thriller movie ARCTIC SKIES. The sci-fi-thriller, inspired by one of the most well-documented UFO encounters on record, follows the harrowing journey of a cargo plane crew who, while flying at 40,000 feet above the Arctic Circle, become the target of otherworldly attention. Ariyon Bakare will also star in the new thriller movie.

It has been two years since the first glorious season aired, but Prime Video is finally preparing August 29th as the start date of the brand new season of the epic THE RINGS OF POWER series from the Lord of the Rings universe and today we are celebrating it with a spectacular official trailer which you can feast your eyes upon below and tell us what you think.

Season two plunges even its most  beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity.  Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle even more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.

 WHO ARE THE NEW FACES IN THE CAST?

Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, and Calam Lynch have join the series in the second season which was shot over in United Kingdom. Joseph Mawle was replaced in the role of evil Orc leader Adar with Sam Hazeldine. The reasons are not known, but Mawle did not take part in promotional activities for the first season either. New faces joining the second season in undisclosed roles also include Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, newcomer Amelia Kenworthy,

BBC has released a trailer for two part Agatha Christie series MURDER IS EASY which will air December 27th and 28th. It follows young detective Fitzwilliam (David Jonsson) after meeting Miss Pinkerton (Penelope Wilton) on a train to London, who tells him that a killer is on the loose in the sleepy English village of Wychwood under Ashe. When Miss Pinkerton is found dead on her way to Scotland Yard, Fitzwilliam travels to Wychwood to investigate, where he meets residents including Bridget (Morfydd Clark), Lord Whitfield (Tom Riley), Major Horton (Douglas Henshall), Dr Thomas (Mathew Baynton), Reverend Humbleby (Mark Bonnar), and others. Britbox will air it next year in Northern America.

After a lack of success with some of her previous adaptations, the queen of crime Agatha Christie is returning to BBC One who have finished shooting a two part series based on her MURDER IS EASY novel produced by Mammoth Screen.

  THE STORY OF THE SERIES

is set in England, 1954. On a train to London, a man going by the name of Luke Fitzwilliam (David Jonsson) meets Miss Pinkerton (Penelope Wilton), who tells him that a killer is on the loose in the sleepy English village of Wychwood under Ashe. The villagers believe the deaths are mere accidents, but Miss Pinkerton knows otherwise - and when she's later found dead on her way to Scotland Yard, Luke feels he must find the killer before they can strike again. Because for a certain kind of person, murder is easy. Morfydd Clark stars as Bridget, Sinead Matthews as Miss Waynflete, Tom Riley as Lord Whitfield, Douglas Henshall as Major Horton, Mathew Baynton as Dr Thomas and Mark Bonnar as Reverend Humbleby! Previous BBC adaptations And Then There Were None, The Witness For The Prosecution, Ordeal By Innocence, The ABC Murders and The Pale Horse were not overly successful.

NETFLIX RELEASES NEW PICS

After very secretive and mysterious first images this spring which showed us just glimpses of the main characters, Netflix has now released a series of set images from their  THE LEOPARD historical series which will shoot till September as the adaptation of  Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's famous classic novel Il Gattopardo which was translated into more than 40 languages around the world. Tom Shankland is directing the six episode saga which was previously adapted into a movie by famous Italian filmmaker Visconti! Thousands of extras and custom made costumes have been used in this ambitious production.

 

WHAT IS THE STORY?

While Sicily is struggling in the turmoil of the Risorgimento in 1860, the Prince of Salina Fabrizio Corbera (Kim Rossi Stuart) reigns over his family and his possessions, convinced that even these disorders are destined to pass. He hasn’t come to terms with the idealism of young people like his nephew Tancredi (Saul Nanni), who joins the rebels risking his own life, or the ambitions of men like Sedara, a vulgar man who rides change by pandering to the nascent power of mafia criminal organizations and intends to use his beautiful daughter Angelica (Deva Cassel) to get what he wants. At Don Fabrizio’s side remains Concetta (Benedetta Porcaroli), his favourite daughter, who shares his intelligence and foresight. Her happiness will eventually be sacrificed in an attempt to ensure the survival of the power and of the name of the lineage.

If you were wondering what is Galadriel up to these days, she has just joined Jai Courtney in THE FOX fantasy comedy movie from Australia. He will play the heir to a vineyard dynasty who takes drastic action after discovering his fiancé (Morfydd Clark) is cheating on him. He decides to follow the advice of a fox, who promises him a way to transform his doomed relationship, which involves pushing his loved one down a magic hole.  According to Screen Daily, the film from Dario Russo will shoot in mid 2023.

HEROES OLD AND NEW

Beside younger versions of the characters we already grew to love or hate in Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, such as Elven queen Galadriel, Elrond and Sauron, the new series will also have some new heroes in the principal ensemble cast which includes 22 actors. Morfydd Clark stars in the role of Galadriel, previously portrayed by Cate Blanchett, she is the commander of the Northern Armies,  Ismael Cruz Córdova as new character Arondir, a Silvanelf. His forbidden love Bronwyn, a healer, is played by Nazanin Boniadi! Robert Aramayo plays Galadriel's love Elrond, a politically ambitions young Elven leader, while Charlie Vickers stars in the new original role of Halbrand who is running from the past. Sophia Nomvete is dwarven princess, Disa! Owain Arthur stars as Durin IV, prince of the bustling subterranean realm of Khazad-dûm. Elven smith Celebrimbor whose skill with metals and magic lead to the forging of the rings is portrayed by Charles Edwards. Maxim Baldry is a sailor named Isildur who will appear years before he becomes a warrior and cuts the soul-corrupting ring off Sauron’shand, then falls victim to its powers himself. Hobbits will not appear in the show, but their ancestor species called the harfoots will. Lenny Henry plays a harfoot elder in the series, while Megan Richards and Markella Kavenagh star as two harfoots who encounter a mysterious lost man.
