OCTAVIA SPENCER IN 'THE SHACK'

Sometime ago I announced that one of world's bestselling books William Paul Young's THE SHACK is getting a movie adaptation and earlier last winter we announced that Octavia Spencer will play the God in it, and now 'Empire' reports that Australian hunk Sam Worthington has joined the movie in the lead role as a man whose youngest daughter is kidnapped during a family holiday. Evidence turns up in an abandoned shack to suggest she was murdered, which stymies the case. But then, four years later, he receives a note, apparently from God, inviting him to go back to the ruined building. He accepts, against his better judgement, and what he finds there changes his life forever.

'ALBION:RISE OF DANANN'

Well, this is quite a strong cast for a film we've never heard of before and it shoots this month! 'Deadline' reports that  John Cleese and Debra Messing have joined the cast of fantasy film ALBION: RISE OF THE DANANN, in which Cleese will play the villian, a tyrannical leader of Albion while Messing will portray the queen. SPARTACUS star Liam McIntyre and Daniel Sharman also star in the film about a 12-year-old girl (Avery Rath) who is carried away to a faraway land on a magical horse. Stephen Dorff will portray her father, while Jennifer Morrison appears as a psychologically fractured woman in the alternate universe.

In the latest issue they feature a bunch of new photos from STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS showing not just Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and everybody's favourite Chewbacca, but also a bunch of new aliens that will populate the exotic new worlds. After giving birth to her first child with Ryan Reynolds, stunnignly charismatic Blake Lively is getting really interesting new roles. After you see her this spring as a beauty that cannot age in THE AGE OF ADALINE, she will take on the lead role in equally intriguing movie ALL I SEE IS YOU to be directed by Marc Forster. Lively and Jason Clarke will play a married couple who find that their relationship changes dramatically when Lively's character regains her sight after previously being blind. WORLD WAR Z director Marc Forster is also set to helm RED RISING adaptation of Pierce Brown's bestseller (which yours truly spy is translating right now) about a future in which humanity is separated into colours which dictate their position, wealth and duties.

NBC'S 'HOW WE LIVE' SITCOM
In TV news, I've recently announced that NBC is preparing new sitcom HOW WE LIVE and now 'Deadline' reports that Sam Huntington has taken the lead role of Russell, a blogger who writes about his new life after moving to the suburbs in the style of an anthropologist who’s stumbled on an undiscovered tribe! Chris Klein will play Russell's friend Matt, who helps the blogger settle into the neighbourhood. Lindsay Price and Jared Gertner portray married couple Claudia and Dennis!
WILL KEMP, CONNIE NIELSEN, LIAM MCINTYRE 'UNVEILED' AS ANGELS
Another of NBC's pilots that I've announced earlier UNVEILED also has new cast members. In the new series which will revolve around a group of guardian angels trying to restore the faith in people who are in crisis, VAN HELSING's Will Kemp will play a fallen angel named Lucas, who uses his charm to corrupt humans, while GLADIATOR's Connie Nielsen has signed on to feature as Joan, the boss of the guardian angels.They join SPARTACUS star Liam McIntyre who will play Michael Hunter, one of the angelic creatures who is described as a warrior and rebel!

Tones of television news for you today, people, starting with the update on MTV's small screen adaptation of famous epic fantasy novels SHANNARA which has a new cast addition: young Ivana Baquero, who played the little girl in PAN'S LABYRINTH, will star in the ten episodes of the epic series set in our world, thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization. The descendants of the SHANNARA family are empowered with ancient magic and their adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. Ivana Baquero will play Eretria, a young woman from the wrong side of the tracks who’s been forced to use her beauty and wits to survive. She’s a human who has been raised in a den of thieves known as the Rovers. When she rescues elven prince Will (Austin Butler) from danger she becomes unwittingly tied to his and his sister Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) quest to save the Four Lands. Aaron Jakubenko and Manu Bennett are also in the cast!

MARCO POLO GETS 2ND SEASON, NEW SITCOMS UPDATES
In other quick TV updates, beside the info that Netflix has ordered the second season of MARCO POLO epic series, they have also set March 6 date for UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT sitcom and May 8 for GRACE & FRANKIE sitcom with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin! ABC Family has, meanwhile, ordered KEVIN FROM WORK workplace comedy about a young man unluckily in love who professes his love to a co-worker, thinking he'll never see her again after he accepts a job offer overseas. But then that job offer is rescinded, and now they have to continue to work with each other.
LIAM MCINTYRE JOINS 'THE FLASH'
And over at CW they have hired another SPARTACUS star, Liam McIntyre to star in THE FLASH! He will play  Mark Mardon, the brother of Clyde Mardon (Chad Rook), who appeared as the Weather Wizard in the series premiere. Mark returns to Central City to get justice for his brother’s untimely death and uses his powers, similar to Clyde’s, to go on a rampage and find the man that shot Clyde.

'LAST MAN STANDING' GETS

Speaking of ABC, don't forget to tune in this Friday to the new episode of beloved sitcom LAST MAN STANDING which will see a new HOME IMPROVEMENT reunion: Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson!
