HEAD OF JOAQUIN MURRIETA
NEW AMAZON'S EPIC SERIES
If you do not know what to watch next week, Amazon's Prime Video will start streaming new historical series THE HEAD OF JOAQUIN MURRIETA (La Cabeza
de Joaquín Murrieta) as of February 17th in more than 240 countries around the world! This eight episode action Western series follows the adventures of Joaquín Murrieta and Carrillo as they unite to face a common enemy. Murrieta, also called the Robin Hood of the West or the Robin Hood of El Dorado, was a 19th century Mexican figure of disputed historicity. This is considered to be one of the most ambitious and most expensive of Amazon's original series ever coming from Latin America.
The series starts February 17th on Prime Video |
HEAD OF JOAQUIN MURRIETA
is
an exceptional story made in Mexico, produced by Dynamo and Amazon
Studios, set on the new border between Mexico and the United States in
1851: Arguably, the Wild West has never been Wilder. Mexico had just
lost the 1846-48 Mexican-American war, ceding Texas and then California
to the U.S. The California Gold Rush brought 300,000 new settlers to the
region while disenfranchising thousands of Mexicans, sparking a period
fueled by greed, anger, and xenophobia when an all-out war is waged. The
8 episode series follows the adventures of two men — Joaquín Murrieta, a
legendary figure played by Juan Manuel Bernal, and Joaquín Carrillo,
played by Alejandro Speitzer — whose paths meet in the midst of a
violent misunderstanding. They come together to face a common enemy,
Harry Love, played by Steve Wilcox. The cast also includes Yoshira
Escárrega as Damace, Emiliano Zurita as Casey and newcomer Becky Zhu Wu
as Adela Cheng. Liam Sharpe, Michael Wilson Morgan, also star. Check out the action packed trailer below:
Sodisputed is the existance of Murrieta that for a long time was considered to be Chilean. I have mixed feelings about it, but for once I don't mind the woke angle since California had belonged to the Spanish Crown for centuries ad had been part of Mexico too. The Anglos were the newcomers. I haven't seen Bernal since his hearthrob days and don't know if he has the range for such a role (he does look old) Speitzer whom i still cannot detach from his child actor stage, is quite versatile.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of any of the actors before, but the lead definitely does not seem interesting or attractive enough for the worldwide audience, maybe just for South Americans, but given that Prime did not even issue an English lg trailer says how much they care about the audience LOL
DeleteUnfortunately this is another one that goes to the NO Watch list..We are watching Northern Exposure again...I find the tv series earlier so much better.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of that one before!
DeleteThat sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI just watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy for the very first time, over the past 2 days. I also watched the second Maleficent and Wakanda Forever. I liked all of them. I'm getting caught up on all the movies I haven't seen,
You took your time with LOTR lol Have in mind that THE HOBBIT trilogy is not as nearly as good as LOTR in case you decide to watch it.
DeleteEh, I'll probably skip this one though it really didn't look bad from the trailer. I'm just not in the mood for the wild wild west right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm rarely in the mood for it, but I will watch Django series and will probably start Emily Blunt's The English tonight as i have an empty spot.
