FIRST TRANSATLANTIC PHOTOS
FROM NETFLIX WW2 SERIES
I have first photo from Netflix World War 2 series which will be presented next month at SeriesMania! TRANSATLANTIC is set in 1940! Varian Fry traveled to Marseille carrying three thousand dollars and a list of imperiled artists and writers he hoped to help escape within a few weeks. Instead, he stayed more than a year, working to procure false documents, amass emergency funds, and arrange journeys across Spain and Portugal, where the refugees would embark for safer ports. The race against time to save them is a tale of forbidden love, high-stakes adventure, and unimaginable courage. Cory Michael Smith and Corey Stoll lead the cast of the series which should start streaming April 7th at Netflix.
Where can we watch Locked?
ReplyDeleteNowhere, the film has not been shot yet, it has just been announced. It will be a cinema movie.
DeleteDying to see Trasatlantic, although Netflix... Who is the black man in the smoking robe in the third picture? Did Varian Fry rescue Black people? Or (my fear) is it the America consul in Marseilles who collaborated with Fry? Oh another miscasting in the name of diversity. The horror, the horror!
ReplyDeleteDa black bro looks like a servant in the hotel, at least judging by the fugly outfit. I am surprised they have not put in it some Asians and Aborigines too.
DeleteI think that is known as a "fumoir"and it was what gentleman wore when they entertained at home informally. Daddy had one in older days. I think i'm going to get peacock. Who will play Queen Berenice, , Titus' Jewish lover?
DeleteI've no idea, but they cast a black woman to play Guinevere in Winter King at ITV, and then ITV will blame us for their tenth period set failure! Both Merlin and Guinevere will be of dark skin.
DeleteEarly in this century they also had a Black Guinevere in "Merlin"
DeleteI know, and she was the most disgusting actress I have seen on the telly, I once cut her off the cast photo and her fans (I was shocked that such an atrocious creature would even have fans, but it is possible it was her herself) came and attacked me here so I had to close comments on that post LOL They were really vile and evil.
DeleteAngel Coulby is mixed-race. I quite like her - but it's okay for people to have differing opinions as long as they keep it civil. Different strokes for different folks.
DeleteI personally cannot stand her for the life of me, such shocking lack of talent and screen presence, her portrayal of Guinevere was so atrocious with her modern day idiotic facial expressions.... very disrespectful of the era and genre.
DeleteThat sort of conversation is never civil. Let me explain what the problem is here. I have no quarrel with Black actors. Some of my favorite actors are Afro-American, I don’t mind the inclusion of ethnic characters if it serves a purpose, I like Angel, I saw her in Dancing on the Edge and she was quite good. The problem is MISCASTING. You cannot have a character, fictional, or real looking any different than what he/she looks really looks like. You cannot have Hitler portrayed by a tall blonde actor, you cannot have a Japanese playing Abe Lincoln, you cannot have an obese fiftyish woman playing Lolita. As far as the legend goes Guinevere is a white princess. Now if they have chosen to make ‘Gwen” into the daughter of an African King, that would have made sense, but turning her into Morgana’s maid and not looking like Guinevere, demanded a lot from the public’s imagination, and for no apparent reason at all.
DeleteOy, I totally forgot that not only she was black in the series but was also Morganas maid hahahha.... what a mess they made of it, and Merlin never showed any powers either until the very end and the end was so depressive I wanted to kill myself for spending five years on the show.
DeleteYou are constant, I gave up after the first season. It was too childish.
DeleteI understand that Guinevere means something like white or fair. I did some mental gymnastics at the time and thought that TV Gwen might be descended from an African soldier in service of the Roman Empire when Britain was under Roman suzerainty. I found 'Merlin' better than the awful Starz 'Camelot' or Hammyrot. From my recollection Merlin showed his magic throughout the show but he had to do it on the sly because in the BBC version magic was forbidden in the kingdom.
DeleteNo, the only magic he ever used, and even that very rarely like in every tenth episode, was moving small objects or lighting a candle. They were more focused on him being molested by his old teacher and by Arthur who probably had secret hots for him and Merlin for Arthur as well.
DeleteI love Anthony Hopkins, he's such a good actor. I just watched Solace which was such a good movie.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched that one yet!
DeleteLuv a character-driven thriller.
ReplyDeleteHello Dez.
