DANIEL GILLIES JOINS SAM REID, ANNA TORV IN 2ND SEASON OF THE AWARD WINNING THE NEWSREADER TV SERIES! DISNEY DEVELOPING ERAGON TV SERIES ADAPTATION

 NEWSREADER SEASON TWO
CASTS DANIEL GILLIES
Daniel Gillies is the new cast addition
As you know it was our favourite Australian series last year and after winning tons of awards, THE NEWS READER is currently airing on Roku in US and BBC 2 in UK, while the second season is shooting Down Under. Deadline reports that Daniel Gillies is a new regular joining our dearest Sam Reid, Anna Torv, William McInnes and Robert Taylor in the series set in the cutthroat world of 1980s TV news in Melbourne, Australia. Gillies will play Charlie, a privileged first-born son of an aging newspaper mogul, desperate to make his own mark in the world.
Sam Reid returns as young reporter Dale Jennings, desperate to become a newsreader, who is paired with notoriously ‘difficult’ star newsreader Helen Norville (Torv) over three months, during which time they cover an extraordinary news events — from the shock of the Challenger explosion, to the hype of Halley’s Comet, to the complexities of the AIDS crisis. The end of the first season saw him succeeding in his plans and becoming a TV star and Helen finding out he is bisexual.

ORDERED AT DISNEY PLUS
The series is in early stages of development
Meanwhile, Disney Plus is in early stages of developing Christopher Paolini's saga ERAGON into a TV series.  “The Inheritance Cycle”, which has four books, tells the story of a farmboy named Eragon who discovers an egg that hatches into a dragon he names Saphira. Through their bond and the help of his mentor Brom, Eragon learns to be a Dragon Rider, an ancient order that had long been thought to be wiped out by the evil king Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira set out to defeat Galbatorix and free the land of Alagaësia from his tyranny. Your spy was one of the European translators of the saga back in the days.

  2. Isn't it amazing that it was still shocking to find out someone's sexuality wasn't purely straight not even 30 years ago? These days hardly anyone bats an eye at bisexual or homosexual. Unfortunately, transsexual still has a way to go in acceptance, but we're getting there.

    1. Sadly, they still beat homosexuals in my country, actually they are threatening to burn down everyone at the upcoming gay parade which will probably be forbidden. Sam is amazing as gay in the series. He is very sensitive about it because in high school some guy with whom he went naughty accused him of raping him to save himself and play the victim, so Sam had to change towns. He is shocked when that guy suddenly appears again while they are interviewing AIDS people. At the moment of weakness he has sex with the camera guy, but generally wants a relationship with Anna Torv. I am glad Sam will be gay in Interview with the Vampire, because that tells me he is probably gay in real life too and we love that. He has always been my secret husband.

  4. I'm sorry that you still have to face hurdles to acceptance in your own country. We definitely aren't there yet because of the religious lunatics that live in this country. I mean, the pulse nightclub shooting wasn't that many years ago, and they've had to cancel pride parades in some parts of the country even this summer, and someone just vandalized a building because they advertised child friendly drag shows. So, we'll still deal with those kinds of hate issues for the foreseeable future. I'm just glad that it's not so hush hush anymore. I remember going to my aunt's house and we'd be talking about family we hadn't seen in awhile and she'd always have to mention, "you know Sarah is gay, right?" And? She's still my favorite cousin, so I don't get where you're going with this. Thankfully it's not a shocker anymore when someone says Mike and his husband or Sue and her girlfriend. I am hoping that this new generation of kids breaks that cycle even more.

    1. I read somewhere that most of today's youngsters, male especially, are bisex and don't have the old sexual prejudices. It is probably because they grew up with media being more open towards different sexual orientations. Meanwhile, both our president, aka the tyrant, and the lead presidential candidate from opposition, have said that they would not let gays have kids, even though our prime ministress, aka the presidents sycophant, is openly lesbian and even has a son with her wife although nobody else in the country has that right legally.

    2. Yep, rules for thee and not for me. They should lead by example. If she can have a son with her wife, then everyone should be able to have children there too.

    3. It is shocking, something that can only happen here and nowhere else. President's son is constantly photographed with mobsters and criminals and nobody cares.
