BritBox has revealed first look at their new six episode series A SPY AMONG FRIENDS which follows the defection of British intelligence officer and KGB double agent, Kim Philby (Guy Pearce), through the lens of his complex relationship with MI6 colleague and close friend, Nicholas Elliott
New mini series will air next Autumn on Spectrum and Britbox
(Damian Lewis). The Fall 2022 show examines espionage through their friendship, the fallout of which affects East-West relations to this day. Philby was a British spy who defected to the Soviet Union in the 1950s, betraying secrets to the Russians in the early years of the Cold War. He and Elliott entered the spy game together, but as they rose through the MI6 ranks, Philby turned double agent.

  3. I read the Hyperion Cantos and loved them. We'll see if they can be a good movie, too...I do hope so!

  4. Although I didn’t read Hyperion, the premise seems interesting but we shall see if Bradley Cooper can give us a Home run with this one. I like poetry and am looking forward to seeing Gugu Mbatha Raw in something new. Is Britbox available in the states? I’d be up for watching the double agent/spy series :)

    1. They really did push that one far away and it is not like BritBox has much to offer in the meantime when it comes to new programmes. Their The Beast Must Die was painfully boring dull as watching paint dry with unlikeable characters.
