THE AMERICAN GUEST
HBO MAX TO AIR BRAZILIAN HISTORICAL SERIES THIS MONTH
In the period set series department, I'm bringing you a trailer and poster for Brazilian historical series THE AMERICAN GUEST which will premiere this Sunday, September 26th on HBO and HBO Max. Aidan Quinn and
Chico Diaz are in the roles of Theodore Roosevelt and Cândido Rondon. Based on a true story, the four episode mini series recounts the expedition of the former U.S. president through the Amazon region, alongside the Brazilian marshal.
American Guest starts September 26th |
The plot takes place in the early 20th century. After a bitter defeat in
the U.S. presidential campaign, Roosevelt sets out in search of his
lost youth in the Brazilian Rainforest alongside his long time friend
Farrel Nash (David Herman) and his son Kermit (Chris Mason),
with the objective of exploring the last uncharted river in the
country: the River of Doubt, in Rondonia.
On a journey fraught with deadly dangers, the former
president counts on
the support of indigenous expert Marshal Rondon, then responsible for
connecting the most remote regions of the country. On this journey, the
two men from different backgrounds will have to test their physical and
moral limits, as well as learn to deal with their conflicting
personalities in order to survive. Dana Delany also stars.
The new historical series will air in four episodes |
I wonder how much body fat Tom Hopper has...probably 12%.
ReplyDeleteHe is such a flawlessly perfect man. His little son is the spitting image of him.
DeleteHaving to share your villa with that guy might not be such a bad thing. lol
ReplyDeleteNot bad at all, a dream come true. She should thank all the angels in heavens.
DeleteWe know Tom Hopper from Doctor Who! But i dont think so all netflix films are 5 out of 5 stars films. What about the American Guest?
ReplyDeleteHe is always lovely.
DeleteIt's so like HB0 not to mention this miniseries. Where would I be without your blog? Tedddy Roosevelt fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteThis just proves we are world's number one place for all things period set, you'd be surprised with how many similar sites steal stories from us without ever mentioning the source. It is also interesting that sometimes even IMDB takes photos from us LOL
DeleteHBO is beyond weird, imagine the series starting in three days and no English trailer anywhere! I've barely managed to find this one on some Brazilian channel there.
As far as I know, it is the Only English-speaking place devoted to news about period drama. There is Britishperioddramas.com but it’s brief, a tad dull, and, unlike your blog, doesn’t have a comment place.
DeleteMy blog is devoted to analysis and discussion of the genre, but four times a year (at the onset of each season) I post a list of incoming series. I couldn’t do it without this blog, so thank you very much. Are there websites or blogs on period drama in other languages?
Apparently, The American Guest is a coproduction with Brazil. You had problems finding a trailer? I had problems finding confirmation that it would be shown in the States. Everything pointed out that it could only be shown in HBO Latin America and since they only shown “Tell me who I am” (Dime quien soy) over there, I was a bit scared, but Slate.com confirmed it is coming to HBO/Max and HBo.
There are a number of other sites and especially Facebook Pages that cover the genre, but unlike us who are international or global, they mostly cover just English costume drama. But, yet, they all steal steal steal, there was one Italian page on Facebook which literally kept stealing each of our posts like it is theirs, and there is also a site, I forgot the name, something like world of period drama, which copies our whole site with photos, fonts etc. It is highly disgusting. Digital Spy secretly visits us on Sundays and Mondays and takes inspiration from our stories LOL None of them ever credit us, although we always credit pages we take as sources. It is nasty because it often takes a lot of time and dedication to find all these stories and always be up to date.
DeleteI can tell the tremendous tadk you undergo in this blog. They always steal. They used to do it to me when I was a bona fide columnist and there is nothing you can do about it. Well, you are in my blogroll so it would be very difficult to plagiarize something of yours. IN the past I have quoted you and encroached links to Hollywood Spy. Whenever you see "Gato Dezmond" in one of my posts that is you
DeleteThank you.
DeleteI certainly wouldn't be bitching to management if I got stuck sharing a room with him!
ReplyDeleteI'd be thanking all the Gods in heavens from Ancient Roman ones to all the Pagan ones! On a daily maybe even hourly basis.
DeleteIdc what he's in, I'm watching it. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteWe are soooo in!
