  SAM REID TO LEAD
LEGEND OF MOLLY JOHNSON
Sam Reid will play one of the lead roles
Two of our beloved boys from epic shows today, starting with dearest Sam Reid, who after his mind blowingly outstanding roles in Australian series Lambs of God and Bloom this year, will star in THE DROVER'S WIFE: THE LEGEND OF MOLLY JOHNSON based on Henry Lawson's classic short story. Set in 1893, the plot follows Leah Purcell as the heavily pregnant Molly Johnson who, with her children, struggles to survive hunger and the wild elements. She forms a bond with Yadaka, a runaway Aboriginal who helps her with the birth and burial of her stillborn baby. When Sergeant Nate Clintoff (Sam Reid) learns that Molly’s drover husband is missing he sends his assistant Trooper Leslie (Benedict Hardie) to investigate, triggering a chain of brutal events. Rob Collins, Harry Greenwood and Jessica de Gouw also star.

 'THE GILDED AGE'
INVITES BLAKE RITSON INTO THE 19TH CENTURY NEW YORK
HBO's and Julian Fellowes' new period set series on the rich people of New York in the 1880's THE GILDED AGE has just added Blake Ritson to the cast which already includes Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon,
Da Vinci's Demons' star Blake Ritson joins Gilded Age
Amanda Peet, Taissa Farmiga, Simon Jones and Morgan Spector.
Set in the time of the rise of disparity between old money and new, the story begins in 1882 – introducing young Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson), the orphaned daughter of a Southern general, who moves into the home of her rigidly conventional aunts in New York City. Marian gets caught up in the dazzling lives of her stupendously rich neighbours, led by a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife struggling for acceptance by the Astor and Vanderbilt set. Will Marian follow the established rules of society, or forge her own path in this exciting new world that is on the brink of transformation into the modern age? Ritson will play Christine Baranski's son, who is obsessed with money while on the lookout for a serious heiress who will allow him to live, as he would put it, properly. Smart, attractive, poised, charming and mischievous, he enjoys witty banter.

  1. The story of a woman (Molly Johnson) written and directed by a woman (Leah Purcell). I like that.
The pregnant woman and the aborigin guy who helps her - make it sound very dramatic.

  4. I need to find me an heir so I can live properly too. But alas, I am stuck with a middle class husband, so I am doomed to live my days paycheck to paycheck. It's such a hard life *sigh*

    1. I do have a few friends who inherited a few flats and apartments throughout the country (or even abroad) and it is magnificently serene knowing you can never go broke and that you can live only of the rents that you pick. I'd call that a true life, because you don't have to worry about rent, money, food, you can just spend your time travelling, having fun and doing what you are good at.

    2. How lovely would that be. Let's hope we get lucky in our next life to be born into money and never have to worry about food and rent again.
