CHANNING TATUM GOES AVATAR IN THE NEW SF EPIC "ION"

It seems that beside Kirsten Dunst's "Upside Down" flick, we shall get another romantic sf movie, but this time something more like "Avatar". According to "MovieWeb", Fox is preparing a huge sf spectacle called "Ion" with charismatic Channing Tatum as the lead hero. Produced by Tony and Ridley Scott, "Ion" will follow a man who travels throughout the different Earths in the universe to try and find his lover who was reincarnated. Apparently, the script is similar to "Avatar" because it contains a lot of fantasy elements and it has the same larger-than-life scope, and it was circling around Hollywood in the past but it didn't find the right studio before the current post-Avatar climate. As we've already reported, Channing will also star in "The Vow" again a romantic movie, and we shall also see him in the long awaited Roman epic "The Eagle of the Ninth".

  1. Has potential, especially as both Scott brothers are producing.

  2. Are "different Earths" related to parallel universes? Sounds like it could be entertaining with quality provided by the Scotts' influence.

    ah, yes, I know you like Scotts :)

    @Arlee
    that's the description released by the producers, but I'm guessing it means parallel universes on different planets if that's even possible.

    @Summer
    oh, yes, the ROME movie has been announced many times, and each time I was overly happy and excited to report it here at HOLLYWOOD SPY, but still nothing ... :(

  7. yes, Ed, we really need some larger-than-life epics and fantasy films in Hollywood, I reckon we've deserved it by watching so many cheap flicks the studios have been serving us in the recent decades :)

  8. Channing is an alright actor in my book. He is a Southern boy. My home state borders his. No matter how he tries, I do not think he can lose his Dixie Accent. I like that.

    I finally watched Avatar, not convinced that I would connect with it.....buddy was I mistaken! The similarities between my people and the "outsiders" brought tears to my eyes. I had read from Indian Country that it would and it did. I cant watch ANY movie with such similarities or re-enactments of what happened and not shed tears. I think you understand what I mean from personal experience.

  9. Fantasy is fun to watch; Sounds intriguing!
    Channing Tatum, has big shoes to fill, but I think he is up for the challenge. He has an edgy vibe will help carry this film. "ION" Ridley Scott has made quite the name for himself in the director's chair! I thought he was a great character actor; Can't wait~

    yes, the idea of AVATAR really was to show the cruelty of modern colonial powers, mainly USA, who didn't just do all that to the Native Americans, but are still using violence and power to invade and occupy many smaller nations and counties around the world :(( Unfortunately not many people have got the message of AVATAR, remembering only the stunning fantasy elements and CGI wonders from the film.

    @Ellie
    oh, yes, edgy vibe is the right word to describe that special something that Channing has!
