Well, it seems TV stations believe we need more vampires, zombies and other evil creatures presented daily to us, so CW is preparing SECRET CIRCLE, a new TV show about a young woman named Cassie (Brittany Robertson) who discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a top-secret coven, but she's also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle between good and evil. Young Thomas Dekker will play her love interest, and also a member of that coven.

When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past. The film also stars beautiful young creatures Sam Claflin, who replaces Orlando Bloom, and Astrid Berges Frisbey who plays a mermaid.

VINCENT CASSEL IS HOLLYWOOD SPY'S BEST FOREIGNER IN HOLLYWOOD FOLLOWED BY VIGGO MORTENSEN AND ALEXANDER SKARSGARD!

 It seems this time your opinions about contestants in YOUR FAVOURITE FOREIGNER IN HOLLYWOOD poll were quite different. Three stars fought for the title, and Vincent Cassel came out as the winner with 22% of your votes, leaving Viggo Mortensen and Alexander Skarsgard in the second place with 20% of your votes.

French superstar Vincent Cassel has been present in Hollywood for quite some time now. Although he has magnetic looks just like his wife Monica Bellucci, unlike her he also has a refined acting talent and dramatic skills. When it comes to English language roles, he first caught our attention alongside Cate Blanchett in ELIZABETH, and then in OCEAN'S TWELVE, DERAILED and BLACK SWAN, but his true talent really shines in cult European films IRREVERSIBLE, BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF, DOBERMANN and THE CRIMSON RIVERS. In the future we shall watch him in A DANGEROUS METHOD in which Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender play Freud and Jung.

Viggo Mortensen's mix of Danish and American blood gives him his trade mark penetrating charisma. Although he was born in NY, he grew up in Venezuela, Argentina and Denmark. He is known for having memorable presence and performances in most of his films, even when those movies aren't so good. Although he became worldwide famous as Aragorn in LORD OF THE RINGS (the role he almost lost to Stuart Townsend) we also loved him in THE PORTRAIT OF A LADY, HIDALGO, THE ROAD. Beside playing Freud in the above mentioned film, he will also be the Huntsman in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN beside Charlize Theron and might play general Zod in SUPERMAN. He was proclaimed a knight by Danish queen last year.

It seems those Scandinavian men really are born gorgeous, dashing and charismatic, since Alexander Skarsgard comes from Sweden. He came to NY to study acting and became one of the most popular blond actors in Hollywood. Although he is mostly known for his vampire role in hit TV show TRUE BLOOD, we will be watching him in films too, since he is starring in 2012 sf film BATTLESHIP alongside Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson and in Lars Von Trier's sf film MELANCHOLIA alongside Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland and his father Stellan Skarsgard. He is also a sergeant in Swedish navy!

Even though he is a marvelous actor, which he proved giving stunning performances in  CRASH, GODS AND MONSTERS and THE QUIET AMERICAN, Brendan Fraser does have a tendency of acting in films with crazy plots. Here's another one:

WHOLE LOTTA SOLE will have him star in a story about a young man who robs a fish shop to pay off a gambling debt. The heist goes wrong and it turns into a hostage situation.  Fraser will play the owner of the fish shop, who is also hiding out from his gangster father-in-law. The film will be directed by Terry George (HOTEL RWANDA, RESERVATION ROAD).
SHORT HEADLINES Although Baz Luhrmann has kinda delayed his work on the film adaptation of THE GREAT GATSBY(which is no wonder to me, since he gathered a really horrible cast including De Caprio, Toby Maguire and Carey Mulligan), the latest news say that Bradley Cooper wants to play Tom Buchanan, Gatsby's main rival, in it.  *Sony Pictures is

planning to shoot AGENT OX, a sf film about a human spy living on an alien planet who tries to stop the aliens from invading Earth. The film comes from the producer of BATTLE: LOS ANGELES which just topped box office charts this weekend. *Yet another future sf film is 7TH DAY, produced by Martha De Laurentis, which will describe a journey to create a new colony in outer space. *I've told you this weekend that young Jennifer Lawrence will probably take the lead role in the film adaptation of the famous fantasy saga THE HUNGER GAMES, but now we have the main candidates for male lead - Alex Pettyfer and Josh Hutcherson. Both are quite popular these days with their I AM NUMBER FOUR and THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT roles.

Check out the first trailer for Wayne Wang's upcoming Asian saga SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN, a movie adaptation of Lisa See bestselling book. The story in this visually spectacular drama is set in 19th century China and centers on the lifelong friendship between two girls who develop their own secret code as a way to contend with the rigid cultural norms imposed on women.  Drawing on the lessons of the past, the two modern women must understand the story of their ancestral connection, hidden from them in the folds of the antique white silk fan, or risk losing one another forever. Starring Gianna Jun and Li Bing Bing as two "sisters" and super star Hugh Jackman as well, the film brings two parallel storylines, one set in contemporary Shanghai, the other in 19th Century China. The film should hit cinemas this July.

SUPER ADORABLE "THE SMURFS" TRAILER! CLIVE OWEN & NICOLE KIDMAN ARE "HEMINGWAY & GELLHORN". ZOMBIE UPRISING IN CW'S "AWAKENING"! MGM IS REBOOTING "ROBOCOP"

This could be a cool cast: Clive Owen, Nicole Kidman and Rodrigo Santoro will star in HEMINGWAY AND GELLHORN, an HBO TV film about the tumultuous romance and subsequent marriage of famous writer Ernest Hemingway (Clive Owen) and up-and-coming war correspondent Martha Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman), following them through the Spanish Civil War and beyond. As she grew in reputation and stature, Gellhorn stood toe-to-toe with Hemingway, putting his famous bravado and iconic style to the test.

MGM is moving on with its reboot of the famous sf film ROBOCOP. The studio has hired a writer for the story about a cop brought back

from death and drafted to become a remorseless and ruthless cyborg cop. That plan is subverted when suppressed memories of his past life come back to haunt him. The film is scheduled for release in 2013.

Since zombies have moved from cinemas to TV as well, CW is preparing a pilot for the possible new show called AWAKENING. Starring Lucy Griffiths and Meredith Hagner it will be a story about two sisters coming of age and facing off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising. Titus Welliver

(from LOST) will join them as a mid-aged man from a family of legendary Zombie Hunters.

And check out the most adorable official trailer for this summer's most smurfilicious adventure THE SMURFS in which he evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, and they tumble from their magical world landing into ours right in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. The cast includes Neil Patrick Harris,  Sofía Vergara, Anton Yelchin, Hank Azaria ...

Young and super charming Luke Evans (who is about to become very busy in Hollywood, with roles in RAVEN, alongside John Cusack as Poe, in THE THREE MUSKETEERS alongside Orlando Bloom and Milla Jovovich,

and in ancient Greek epic IMMORTALS) will take the lead role in THE AMATEUR AMERICAN, an action thriller about a young American living in Paris who accepts a job working for a shadowy employer and soon finds himself framed for murder and caught up in a deadly game of espionage, blackmail, and deceit.
SHORT HEADLINES Comic book RASL will be adapted into a film by the producers of SHERLOCK HOLMES.  The film will follow a former military scientist who becomes an art thief, traveling to parallel universes to steal priceless artwork. *This week I've told you that NBC is shooting a new show PLAYBOY set in the 60's about a successful lawyer and a VIP member of a Playboy club  , but instead of Jeff Hephner, who didn't prove good enough at test shootings, NBC has now given the lead role to Eddie Cibrian.

*The closest to getting the lead role in the film adaptation of fantasy saga THE HUNGER GAMES is young Jennifer Lawrence nominated this year for an Oscar for her role in WINTER'S BONE.  We shall also see her this summer as Mystique in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

And here it is finally - the first official teaser for CONAN THE BARBARIAN in which Jason Momoa will play the famous Barbarian hero when it hits cinemas this August.  In this action epic, a quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil. Beside Momoa, the cast also includes stunning Rachel Nichols as Conan's love interest, Rose McGowan as an evil sorceress and Ron Perlman as Conan's father ....

EXCITING NEW TRAILER FOR J.J. ABRAMS' "SUPER 8"! GUILLERMO DEL TORO TO DIRECT $100 MILLION EPIC "JOURNEY TO THE WEST". ROBERT LUKETIC DIRECTS "BRILLIANT"

Now, here's an interesting West meets East production: famous writer Neil Gaiman will adapt the classic Chinese novel JOURNEY TO THE WEST and Guillermo del Toro might direct the script into a $100 million blockbuster which is supposed to be the first in a trilogy and will probably have James Cameron as a technical consultant. The story will follow The Monkey King, who is accompanied by a Chinese monk, a pig spirit and a fish spirit, to India where he seeks out the ancient texts of Buddha for enlightenment. The film will be shot in China in English with both Western and Asian actors.

I know many of you don't like his work, but I kinda love director Robert Luketic (his movies aren't master pieces, but are usually fun and charming LEGALLY BLOND, KILLERS, THE UGLY TRUTH ). The young Australian/Croatian film maker is now set to direct BRILLIANT, which will center on a small-time criminal who joins accomplished thieves in a diamond heist. According to "MovieWeb" the movie was supposed to be shot three years ago too, with Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johannson and Michael Caine in the cast.

Today, you can check out an exciting new trailer for J.J. Abrams' upcoming epic thriller SUPER 8, which premieres this June. Starring Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning, the film is set in the summer of 1979,  when a group of kids in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Ah, so today we shall have a TV day at HOLLYWOOD SPY :) Lots of new projects and cast choices have been announced this week connected with the shows we will be watching this Autumn. So here

we go:
Two of the upcoming new shows I've  mentioned this week have new cast additions: gorgeous Kristin Kreuk has joined NBC'S 17TH PRECINCT, a crime show set in a town in which magic and supernatural elements rule over science. The show already has Jamie Bamber, Tricia Helfer, Stockard Channing and James Callis in the cast.  On the other hand,  LOST's Terry O'Quinn will be the villain in ABC's musical pilot (the show will have lots of gospel music) HALLELUJAH from the creator of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES Marc Cherry about a stranger who comes to a town ruled by forces of good and evil and tries to solve the clash.

Another new show I've mentioned recently with a new cast member is ABC's POE,  a 19th century set crime show in which famous writer Edgar Allan Poe will also be a detective using unconventional means to uncover mysteries. As you know Christopher Egan will take the lead role of Poe and the prettiest  TV actress ever, Tabrett Bethell will play his muse, but now they are also joined by Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn from THE TUDORS) who will play a character called Celeste.
SHORT TV HEADLINES Since CBS has finally kicked Charlie Sheen from their top sitcom TWO AND A HALF MEN

(and he has just sued them for $100 million), the rumors have started about the possible actor to replace him. Apparently the main contenders for the role are Rob Lowe and John Stamos (who kinda even looks like Sheen if you ask me). *Stephen Spielberg's pre-historic show TERRA NOVA, with the $20 million pilot episode, has got an order for another 13 episodes even before the premiere. *Julianne Moore will play Sarah Palin in HBO's GAME CHANGE, TV film on 2008 elections.  *HBO is also planning HOBGOBLIN, a pilot about magicians and con men who fight Hitler.

Another of the upcoming shows which has new cast members is ABC's ONCE UPON A TIME charming new fantasy series. According to "MovieWeb" Jennifer Morrison (HOUSE) will take the lead role of a woman who discovers the sleepy town of Storybrook, where fictional fairy tales seem to come to life. Ginnifer Goodwin will play Snow White, Lana Parrilla will play the Evil Queen who has most of Storybrook under her spell. Robert Carlyle will play Rumplestiltskin, Joshua Dallas (plays Fandral in THOR) will play Prince Charming, Jamie Dornan  (top model) will be Storybrook's sheriff while young Jared Gilmore will play Henry, Anna's young son who is the only one in town who isn't under the Queen's spell so he goes out to find his mother and bring her to Storybrook to help defeat the Queen. The show is created by the writers of TRON: LEGACY.

WES BENTLEY & AMANDA SEYFRIED IN "GONE". NEW SF FILMS "PACIFIC RIM" AND "THE RUNNER". ABC'S HEARTWARMING NEW SHOW "HALLELUJAH". JEFFREY DONOVAN JOINS JUDI DENCH IN "J.EDGAR"

Here's an interesting cast in a not so interesting film: according to "Playlist" Wes Bentley has just joined Amanda Seyfried in GONE, a thriller about a woman named Jill who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe her and Jill knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, Jill sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.

SHORT HEADLINES Walt Disney and Marc Forster (THE QUANTUM OF SOLACE) are planning to shoot THE RUNNER, a sf thriller about a man in 2027 who is sent back in time to stop an

attack that will make Earth  uninhabitable. Beside saving the planet he also wants to save the love of his life. *Before he shoots AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, with the budget of $150 million, Guillermo Del Toro will direct PACIFIC RIM, a film set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace. *Super charismatic Jeffrey Donovan (BURN NOTICE) has joined Clint Eastwood's J. EDGAR biopic which already features Leonardo De Caprio, Judi Dench and young Armie Hammer. He will play Robert Kennedy. *Sf film DOOM which starred Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban back in 2005 will get a reboot.

Now here's something that seems like a heartwarming new show: According to "Hollywood Reporter" ABC is preparing a charming and magical new pilot called HALLELUJAH.  The story will revolve around  a stranger who comes to the small town of Hallelujah to bring justice, peace and restore the faith in the world the residents of the troubled town desperately need. Apparently the show will also feature songs sung by a gospel choir in each episode :). The cast already includes young Arielle Kebbel and Frances O'Connor.

Our dear Rupert Penry Jones, who won a number of polls at HOLLYWOOD SPY, is going to star in an unusual British film called MANOR HUNT BALL in which a gang of local youths crash a high-class party at a country manor where they discover that the modern gentry are now hunting people instead of foxes. Running for their lives the gang must find a means of escape before they are picked off one by one. This mix of action, thriller and horror will also star Sean Pertwee (EVENT HORIZONT, EQUILIBRIUM, CAMELOT), music star Plan B (HARRY BROWN),  and possibly Anna Friel, Brenda Blethyn (ATONEMENT, SAVING GRACE) and Matthew Macfayden (ROBIN HOOD, THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH).

SHORT HEADLINES Some time ago, I've mentioned that Olivia Wilde might play Lara Croft in a possible new film, and now it seems that TOMB RAIDER saga will really continue. According to "Variety" the rights have just been purchased, and the reboot of the story is expected to appear in cinemas in 2013. *Today, you can also check out a new, Italian, and a bit bizarre, poster for THE SMURFS which are premiering this August with little blue cuties being lost in the middle of New York. *According to "Beyond Hollywood" Marvel is planning to film INHUMANS, a film about aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don’t want to cause war.

Although we are all super happy that Henry Cavill got the role of SUPERMAN in Zack Snyder's reboot of the Man of Steel story, you do remember that hunky Joe Manganiello from TRUE BLOOD was actually the first choice for the role. "MovieWeb" has tried to reveal what went wrong with his casting, and it seems that the only reason Manganiello didn't get the role was the fact that he didn't have the time to go to Warner Bross. and do the screen testing in costume, since he was busy shooting new episodes for TRUE BLOOD. Quite a strange choice - choosing a not so popular show over a life changing movie role.

Now, this is quite unusual: three stars from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and one of the producers will rejoin in a new Fall show on NBC. 17TH PRECINCT will be a supernatural police procedural, with James Callis playing a homicide detective and Jamie Bamber playing a crime scene expert. Tricia Helfer

will play a coroner who has expertise in black magic, spell casting, and potions. The police in the series will relay more so on magic than they will on detective work and technology. The cast will also include amazing Stockard Channing and young Matt Long.

SHORT HEADLINES *Legendary actress Anjelica Huston has joined Debra Messing, Katherine McPhee and Jack Davenport in  NBC's new musical show SMASH in which she will play a Broadway producer who is both classy and shrewd. *You won't discover HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER for two more years, since the popular sitcom has just been renewed for two more seasons. *According to new rumors JAMES BOND 23 might get legendary actor Anthony Hopkins as the main villain.

*ABC's upcoming new show POE has just got itself two breathtaking actors: Tabrett Bethell (Cara from LEGEND OF THE SEEKER, probably the most beautiful woman on Earth) and Christopher Egan will take the lead roles in the show set in 1840s Boston in which the famous writer will also solve crimes. Egan will be Poe and Tabrett will be his main muse.

Today you can check out a super sensational new poster for one of the most anticipated sf films this year, futuristic epic PRIEST with the stunning cast including Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Stephem Moyer, Madchen Amick and Christopher Plummer. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece (Lily Collins) is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q) who possesses otherworldly fighting skills. The film is out May 13th.
