Lots of television news for you today, people! Starting with actress and adorable pop star  Hilary Duff who has taken a role in TV Land pilot comedy series YOUNGER coming from legendary Darren Star. Based on the novel by Pamela Redmond Satran, YOUNGER centers on Liza (Sutton Foster), a 40-something woman who reinvents herself and starts living a double life - one as a suburban mom and another as a 29-year old working girl in the city, after her husband leaves her and her child goes to college. Hilary Duff will play Kelsey, a smart ambitious 20-something who welcomes Liza to the publishing firm, treats her as a contemporary and makes a concerted effort to integrate her into her social life, having no idea that Liza is a decade older. Hilary has also announced her work on new music after scoring huge hits with STRANGER and WITH LOVE almost 5 years ago.

Lovely Zach Cregger from GUYS WITH KIDS  will take the role of Patrick a thirtysomething moving man and former fat kid, who, realizing that his life isn’t quite where it should be, is forced to face the damage caused by years of being  FATRICK: a chubby little kid just trying to survive. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star Marcia Cross will play his domineering mom in the Fox sitcom. 
KELSEY CHOW IN 'HIEROGLYPHS'
Earlier this week I informed you that Condola Rashad has joined upcoming new historical series HIEROGLYPHS at Fox and will play Pharaoh's (Reece Ritchie) sister Nefertari, and now we have another cast member announced: Kelsey Chow from ONE TREE HILL will play Lotus Tenry, a young and wiry concubine of a more grounded allure than her fellow concubines, who is a spy for a rival kingdom. The 13 episode epic show will be set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality intertwined. The story follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah (Reece Ritchie), navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers.

One of the films we are looking forward to this year is THE AGE OF ADALINE which already has gorgeous Blake Lively and Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn in the cast to which they have now added Harrison Ford. The story of the romantic adventure follows the miraculous life of 29-year old Adaline (Blake Lively), who stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident. Over the course of the 20th century she embarks on an epic, but isolated worldwide journey, keeping her secret, until she meets a man who forever alters her life. Young Lee Toland Krieger is directing.This will be Blake Lively's first big screen movie after her roles in GREEN LANTERN  and SAVAGES.

Casting news come from superhero sequel AVENGERS: THE AGE OF ULTRON as well with German superstar Thomas Kretschmann cast as baron Wolfgang Von Strucker! The actor, who is currently portraying Doctor Van Helsing in DRACULA show, will play a former Nazi officer, the head of H.Y.D.R.A, who is ageless and is able to die over and over again. He is a sworn enemy of both Captain America and Nick Fury. Twins Quicksilver (Aaron Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will work for him in the film. As you know, Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor, Chris Evans is Captain America, Mark Ruffalo is Hulk and Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye. James Spader will lend his voice to Ultron, the main movie villain!

Some new updates from AVATAR sequels! It has been officially announced that both Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will return to their original roles as Jake Sully, the wheelchair bound Marine who finds new life on the alien world of Pandora with the Na’vi people and as Neytiri, a Na’vi huntress. Stephen Lang is also coming back as the villainous marine colonel. The mammoth project will actually include AVATAR 2, 3 and 4 all filmed back to back with the first one to be released in December 2016, followed by other two in 2017 and 2018! The plan is similar to the HOBBIT's one, with films being shot together and then released year after year. It was revealed earlier that the second part will involve new creatures and will be set in the oceans of Pandora with Jake and Neytiri having kids as well.

Here's a rather gorgeous cast for you: Enlightenment Productions will soon start shooting DESPITE THE FALLING SNOW period drama over in Serbian capital Belgrade based on the book by Shamim Sarif who is also directing the adaptation of her own novel. The cast is lead by Rebecca Ferguson (THE WHITE QUEEN, HERCULES THRACIAN WARS), Sam Reid (THE RAILWAY MAN, HATFIELDS & MCCOYS) and Oliver Jackson Cohen (DRACULA, WORLD WITHOUT END) alongside acting legends Anthony Head, Charles Dance and Trudie Styler. The film takes place in 1950’s Moscow and centres on communist Katya (Rebecca Ferguson), who secretly spies for the Americans in the Cold War arms race. When she lands her biggest assignment, stealing secrets from rising government star Alexander (Sam Reid), the last thing she expects is to fall in love with him. When Alexander unwittingly closes the net around his own wife, Katya decides to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect him - a sacrifice that Alexander only uncovers forty years later.

In other TV news, Netflix is preparing MARCO POLO epic series which was originally meant for Starz. To be released in all 9 episodes at once at the end of this year, it will follow the 13th century adventures of the Italian merchant traveller in a kinetic tale of high politics, masterful manipulation and deadly warfare. Produced by GAME OF THRONES' Dan Minahan, the show will soon reveal its global cast.

'STALINGRAD' WWII EPIC

Tones of interesting casting rumours for major movies have circled around Hollywood in last few days: Disney is working on STAR WARS VII (spin off movies on BOBA FETT and HAN SOLO have also been announced) with J.J. Abrams behind the helm, and latest rumours say that they want Michael Fassbender for a role in the film and that they are eyeing Hugo Weaving to play an Imperial commander. The new film will focus on Luke Skywalker, Princess Leya and Han Solo and their children as well.

Meanwhile, over at another big project, SUPERMAN VS BATMAN, Josh Holloway might take the role of Aquaman, possibly joining Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) in the cast. There were previous stories on Joaquin Phoenix possibly playing Lex Luthor, Penn Badgley playing Nightwing and Jason Momoa playing Doomsday or Martian Manhunter in the superhero sequel to MAN OF STEEL.

In other movie news today, Deadline writes that movie legend Glenn Close will play fake princess Anastasia Romanov in DUCHESS. In the movie directed by Arie Posin, and produced by people who produced Glenn's ALBERT NOBBS drama, she will play Anna Anderson, the woman who claimed to be the Grand Russian Duchess Anastasia! The film is described as a dark road-trip comedy based on true events and covering the last days of Anna and her American husband Jack Manahan. After the courts forcibly put Anna into a retirement home in Charlottesville in 1983, Jack kidnapped her, and together they evaded the authorities across rural Virginia hoping to experience the honeymoon they never had.

THE BEST DRESSED

Without any doubt Lupita Nyongo stole the show in her divinely caped red Ralph Lauren gown, while Julianne Margulies also looked refined in her black gown elvenly decorated with golden branches. Sofia Vergara was breathtaking in her simple black ballgown.

 Also looking fine, were Cate Blanchett in her intricately laced Armani, Julie Delpy in red asymmetry, Amber Heard in midnight blue and Maria Menunous in a pink dress which was see-through in all the right places!

Olivia Wilde was cute covering her pregnant belly in forest green Gucci, while Mila Kunis and Kate Beckinsale were quite toned down. I also liked Emma Thompson's golden lace uniform, although it would've looked better if the black skirt was longer.

Tones of them opted for floral designs, some of them looking good in it (Drew Barrymoore) and some of them looking shockingly trashy (Jacqueline Bisset and Heidi Klum).

THE PARACHUTERS

Some of the looked like they were wearing parachutes: Michelle Dockery clumsily wore a sequinned parachute, Sandra Bullock a colourful one, Jennifer Lawrence a modest one, while Paula Patton decided to drape her parachute over the shoulder. None of them looked good.

Emma Watson looked ridiculous in a red dress with black pants underneath and horrid mismatching shoes, Lena Dunham looked like mustard gone bad, Zoe Deschanel stole the outfit from her granny dearest, Naomi Watts looked pale in deeply unflattering Tom Ford, while Zoe Saldana disappointed in an overly busy dress.

Earlier last year I spotlighted brilliant Turkish historical show THE MAGNIFICENT CENTURY on Sultan Suleyman, and now it seems that we will be getting another similar series: stunning beauty and ultra talented actress Meryem Uzerli, who played Suleyman's wife Hurem Sultana in the show, will now, according to gossips coming from Istanbul, play the lead role in the new Turkish series on KOSEM SULTANA coming from TIMS studios which made the previous series too.

DEZZY'S HISTORY LESSON
Kosem Sultana, also known as Mahpeyker Sultana (the name means Moon Shaped), was one of the most powerful women in Ottoman history, favourite consort and later wife of Ottoman Sultan Ahmed I  from the early 17th century. She achieved power and influenced the politics of the Ottoman Empire through her husband, then through her sons Murad IV and Ibrahim I and finally through her grandson Mehmed IV.  She was a prominent figure during the Sultanate of Women (which started with the rule of Hurem Sultana). She was official regent twice and was thereby one of only two women to have been formal rulers of the Ottoman Empire. She came to the sultan's palace in Istanbul as a 15 year old slave girl, but quickly became influential in the harem. It is believed that in the end she was killed by her own daughter in law, sultana Turhan, because she wanted to put another of her grandsons on the throne. Kösem was renowned for her charity work and for freeing her slaves after 3 years of service.

'THE WHITE PRINCESS' SEQUEL

 TO 'THE WHITE QUEEN' TO BE MADE AT STARZ WITHOUT BBC

In other news from our favourite historical genre, Starz has announced their work on the follow up series to THE WHITE QUEEN drama. Although BBC, which co-produced the show with Starz last year, decided not to give the show the second season due to low quality of the first one (confusing, chaotic script, unfocused characters, bad sets and costumes) and the lack of the success among the viewers, Starz will venture into the project alone since the reception in USA was better and Rebecca Ferguson even scored a Golden Globe nomination for her role of the queen.  The sequel will most probably be based on Philippa Gregory's novel THE WHITE PRINCESS which follows the rule of THE WHITE QUEEN's daughter, who will later on become the mother of infamous King Henry VIII. It was also announced this weekend that Starz expects for their upcoming historical show OUTLANDER to get second season as well, and that Steven De Knight's sf show INCURSION, a sf saga about an intergalactic war, will happen in the future. The production has started in India on the sequel to the super successful 2012 movie which earned $135 million worldwide. Sonny (Dev Patel) has his eye on a promising property now that his first venture, THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL for the Elderly and Beautiful, has only a single remaining vacancy - posing a rooming predicament for fresh arrivals Guy (Richard Gere) and Lavinia (Tamsin Greig). LUKE EVANS SAYS 'THE CROW'

WILL STICK TO THE ORIGINAL COMIC BOOK

Speaking in a recent interview our favourite Welsh star Luke Evans (whom you're currently watching in HOBBIT THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and will watch him in DRACULA UNTOLD epic this Autumn) has revealed that THE CROW remake, in which he plays the lead role, will actually be more of a new comic book adaptation than a remake of the classic Brandon Lee film. The new movie will stick closely to the comic book written by James O'Barr and will require lots of physical efforts from Luke Evans, which is why he underwent a special training for the role. To be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, THE CROW will see Luke Evans playing rock musician Eric Draven who is murdered trying to rescue his girlfriend from thugs, and returns from the dead one year later to exact vengeance! There were rumours that THE WALKING DEAD's Norman Reedus is wanted for one of the roles in the film.

Last year we were all deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Paul Walker, but we knew that the projects he was supposed to do will have to find new actors, and 'Deadline' reports that two of the films which were supposed to have Paul in the lead roles have found replacements. James Marsden will apparently replace Walker in THE BEST OF ME movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks novel. He will join Michele Monaghan and the two of them will play two high schools sweethearts who got separated by unforeseen events only to be reunited 25 years later at the funeral of their old mentor who once gave shelter to their high school romance! Neither has lived the life they imagined... and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever changed their lives.

Meanwhile, ultra talented British star Rupert Friend, with whom we fell in love after his brilliant role in YOUNG VICTORIA, will replace Paul Walker in AGENT 47, which is a reboot of HITMAN action movie. The original movie, which earned $100 million around the world and was actually a big screen adaptation of a popular video game, had a story revolving around an assassin known only as Agent 47, who has a barcode tattooed at the back of his head. Deadline reports that STAR TREK star Zoe Saldana will lead NBC's mini series based on ROSEMARY'S BABY movie which was an adaptation of the 1967 best-selling suspense novel by Ira Levin. The mini series will focus on Rosemary (Zoe Saldana), a young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a dark past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbours have ulterior motives about the future of her child.

'INFLUX' SF ADAPTATION

And a new movie adaptation has been announced: 20th Century Fox has  bought the rights on INFLUX, a sf novel which hasn't been released yet written by Daniel Suarez. The futuristic story of the book is set in a world where a secret organization suppresses emerging technologies to prevent widespread change in a futuristic society, and shows what happens to an inventor who is shut down by this covert group. Are smart phones really humanity's most significant innovation since the moon landings? Or can something else explain why the bold visions of the 20th century, fusion power, genetic enhancements, artificial intelligence, cures for common disease, extended human life, and a host of other world-changing advances, have remained beyond our grasp?

Your trailer for this Friday is for Jason Bateman's comedy BAD WORDS which arrives to cinemas this March. Bateman stars as Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame. As a reporter (Kathryn Hahn) attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand), who is completely unfazed by Guy's take-no-prisoners approach to life.
