INTRIGUING TRAILER FOR SF FILM "OBLIVION" WITH TOM CRUISE & OLGA KURYLENKO! 20TH CENTURY FOX'S EPIC ON GERMAN WARRIOR "ARMINIUS" WHO DEFEATED CAESAR

 Since you know that HOLLYWOOD SPY is the place for all things epic, we couldn't possibly skip this piece of info: according to "Deadline" 20th Century Fox will shoot epic film ARMINIUS, which recounts the tale of a famous German warrior who stood up to Augustus Caesar's Roman army. To be produced by Wolfgang Petersen, the film will follow the title character, a German who was trained as a Roman warrior before defecting back to his homeland when Rome decided to conquer Germany. At just 25 years of age, he managed to unite the separate German tribes and lead them into the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. The Roman's defeat at the hands of ARMINIUS is said to be the worst ever under Caesar's rule, which put an end to the Roman Empire's northward expansion.

 A monument was erected in his honor in 1875, which still stands near the Teutoburg Forest in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region of Germany.

Believe it or not that was our brave sheriff Rick from THE WALKING DEAD in his early romantic moments :) But he had other unexpected moments in his earlier career: before he became television's most famous zombie killer he actually loved to play full nude in films and you can Google his scantily clad self and see it for yourself :) I also bet that most of you didn't know that he is actually very British which means that he is very good with accents since he convincingly plays a southern American man in THE WALKING DEAD, maybe it's because he finished the famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London like many other British thespians. After LOVE ACTUALLY he actually did tones of TV work over in UK. Did you know that Apple, the daughter of Coldplay's Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, served as a flower girl at his wedding? Just like the character of good sheriff Rick from the zombie show, Andrew is an honourable man in his private life and is known for his charity work!

STEVEN YEUN

Now, if you follow HOLLYWOOD SPY regularly you already know that Steven Yeun's Glenn from THE WALKING DEAD is my favourite character in the

show: he is good, kind, honourable, always there to help, brave and also very loving towards his dear Maggie. Like a tiny sparkle of hope in the zombie infested doomed mankind.  Similarly to his friend Andrew Lincoln, Yeun also worked mostly on TV before his role in the zombie show: you've seen him in THE BIG BANG THEORY, in LAW AND ORDER, in WAREHOUSE. Steven was born in South Korea and when he and his family moved to USA he studied psychology at college before getting gigs in many TV commercials for Apple, Milky Way etc. Thanks to the worldwide success of THE WALKING DEAD he is hugely popular in Korea where they considered him their own Brad Pitt. There are gossips that he and Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, are an item off screen too.

NORMAN REEDUS

Beside Andrew Lincoln, Norman was probably the most famous name in the cast when the show started and he managed to become even more popular thanks to his role of Daryl, a farm boy with a warm heart who is not thinking twice when he has to use his crossbow. Before

 the show he played in THE BOONDOCK SAINTS next to Sean Patrick Flanery, in BLADE II, in TV shows CHARMED and HAWAII FIVE O. And you all remember him from the lead role in Lady Gaga's video for her JUDAS hit song. This year he played in NIGHT OF THE TEMPLAR and in SUNLIGHT JR with Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon. And next year we shall watch him in PAWN SHOP CHRONICLES next to Brendan Fraser, Paul Walker, Elijah Wood, Vincent D'Onofrio and Thomas Jane, in a story about a missing wedding ring which leads to a wild-goose chase involving meth addicts, skinheads and an Elvis impersonator.  According to "The Hollywood Reporter" one of our favourite movie heartthrobs James Marsden is set to star next to Elizabeth Banks in WALK OF SHAME comedy. The story of the film centres on a high-strung

 news anchor who, after a wild night out, finds herself locked out on the street with no phone, money, ID or car, and embarks on a series of misadventures as she finds her way to the most important job interview of her life. Don't forget that you will soon watch Marsden in THE BUTLER too. In the story about a butler who served American presidents for decades, Marsden will play president John F. Kennedy. There were also rumours this week that the producers want him to appear in the new sequel of X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST since they want to bring back all of the stars who played the superheroes in previous films including Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Marsden as Cyclops alongside Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart as Magneto and Professor X and Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy as their younger versions and Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult in their roles from X MEN FIRST CLASS .

According to "The Hollywood Reporter" Ridley Scott's production company has bought the movie adaptation rights on THE FISHING 

FLEET, a bestselling novel by Anne De Courcy. The story of the book is set in late 19th century India at the height of the British Raj and it centres around a young British woman who arrives in the country in search of romance and marriage. Two of our beloved Australian hunks Sullivan Stapleton (who is playing the lead role in 300 epic prequel) and Ryan Kwanten (from TRUE BLOOD) will take the lead roles in Australian thriller CUT SNAKE. As "Deadline" writes the film will be based on a true story which centres around two ex-cons who killed 15 people in 1973 when they torched the Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub in Brisbane. Stapleton will play a man who has just been released from prison and convinces his friend (Kwanten) to pull one last heist with him.

And here's an interesting project: Matthew Busch, who worked on MATRIX and STAR WARS, has begun production in India on his sf film ALADDIN 3477 which will be shot on different locations in Asia. His

adaptation of the famous fairy tale about Aladdin and his magical lamp from the ARABIAN NIGHTS will be a live action film set 1,500 years into the future. To be filmed in India, Thailand, Cambodia, China... the film will mix Eastern culture, Hindu mythology and Asian design motifs. An interesting piece of news comes from "Digital Spy": SKYFALL's young version of gadget expert Q, Ben Whishaw (who was also great earlier this year in BBC epic mini series THE HOLLOW CROWN) will take the lead role in British film LILTING. Whishaw will go gay in the story of a Chinese mother (Pei Pei) who is mourning the sudden death of her son (Andrew Leung). However, stranded without him and not able to speak English, she requires the help of his boyfriend (Whishaw), whom she only knows as his flatmate.

In TV news, according to "The Hollywood Reporter" BBC has ordered a six-part fantasy mini series based on Susanna Clarke's best-selling 

book JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL.  The story is set during the Napoleonic Wars in an England where magic once existed and is about to return, and the main heroes are a magician and his apprentice! In other news from the TV world, Stephen King's book UNDER THE DOME will be made into a show. CBS will make it into a 13 episode series. Scheduled for summer 2013 the story of the new show will be set in a small town that becomes sealed off from the rest of the world by a huge transparent dome, leaving its inhabitants to solve the mystery of what has happened.

Oh, now this is certainly some amazing info: according to "Digital Spy" dame Helen Mirren and Colin Firth are set to join the sequel to worldwide blockbuster THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL which already has amazing cast from the first part - Judi Dench (bow immediately), Maggie Smith and Bill Nighy!!! Not only that the original film, which centred on a group of retired Brits whose lives are transformed after they move to a newly restored hotel in India, has made over $130 million around the world with a very small production budget, but it also won tones of movie awards. The script for the sequel has been turned to the studio and the sequel should start shooting sometime next year.I'm not sure if this would be the first time for all three of the greatest British thespians of the older generation - Dench, Mirren and Smith - to appear together on the big screen. Dench and Smith had a number of projects together before and they are best friends in their private lives too.

In short news today, SPARTACUS hunk Manu Bennett (plays Crixus in the megapopular epic show) has joined CW'S hit show ARROW. In CW's superhero drama he will play Slade Wilson according to "Entertainment Weekly",  the civilian identity of super-villain Deathstroke - who has already appeared as a mysterious masked figure on the series. He will be introduced through flashbacks, with Wilson forming an uneasy alliance with Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) while both men are stranded on the island of Lian Yu. You will also watch Manu in THE HOBBIT this month, since he plays the evil Azog in

the epic fantasy but you probably won't recognise him. Speaking of SPARTACUS, as I've gossiped a few months ago, it has been confirmed by the show's creator Steven DeKnight that in the halls of Starz they often whisper about a CAESAR spinoff! If the audience accepts young Todd Lasance as the Roman general in WAR OF THE DAMNED this January, the studio might work on a new series which would depict the life of Caesar in some later time of his life. As I've also reported before DeKnight is currently developing sf show INCURSION for Starz.

 Deadline reported last weekend that everybody's favourite Reese Witherspoon has yet another future gig: she will take the lead role in WILD. The movie adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's memoirs will be penned by famous writer Nick Hornby (that was the personal wish of Reese herself) and will revolve around Strayed's 1100-mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State. With no experience, the woman succeeded with the long trek, and managed to get her life back together in the process. She was going through the death of her mother and the break-up of her marriage at the time. Reese wanted Hornby to adapt the script because his innate blend of humanity and humor are a perfect match for Cheryl's raw emotional memoir.

In short news today, "Deadline" reports that HIGH- LANDER remake has lost director Juan Carlos Fresna- dillo due to creative differences with Summit Entertain- ment. He is the second helmer to leave the project, but Ryan Reynolds is still attached to play the lead role of Connor McLeod, an immortal warrior from the line of Highlanders, who can only die if their heads are cut off. The film should hit cinemas in 2014. And beside BOY MEETS WORLD sequel which will see Corey and Topanga as parents in a new sitcom titled GIRL MEETS WORLD, we shall see another big reunion on TV: Tim Allen's delightful and mega successful sitcom LAST MAN STANDING (I personally love watching it) will see Allen and Richard Karn reunite again. Karn played Tim The Toolman Taylor's co-host and friend Al in

one of the most famous sitcoms in history HOME IMPROVEMENT. In one of the upcoming LAST MAN STANDING episodes, Karn will play the architect who designed the store in which Tim Allan works. Tim's new sitcom has been having great viewing rates around the world and is enjoying its second season.

 stepmother in their movie adaptation of CINDERELLA, and now I have the first names for the title role: three young actresses in the run for the role of the hardworking beauty are Saoirse Ronan (I'm not sure why she gets almost all young female roles these days as if other actresses don't exist, I like her but she's no Cinderella for me), Gabriella Wilde (she already wore period costumes in THE THREE MUSKETEERS) and Alicia Vikander (I've mentioned her recently as the lead in Danmark's Oscar contender THE ROYAL AFFAIR and she is also seen in ANNA KARENINA and will be seen next year in epic fantasy THE SEVENTH

SON next to Kit Harrington and Julianne Moore). These three ladies will do tests for the role in the upcoming days. Mark Romanek is directing this big budgeted cinematic visual spectacle in the vein of ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

He sure did turn from an irritating brat to a little hero in THE WALKING DEAD as Rick's son Karl, but little Chandler Riggs is moving onto the big screen too: according to "Heat Vision" he will

  take the lead role in MERCY. A movie adaptation of Stephen King's short story GRAMMA, the film will revolve around two brothers (Chandler Riggs and Joel Courtney from SUPER 8) who go with their mother (Frances O'Connor) to take care of their grandmother. The boys soon discover that their grandma is actually an evil witch who uses black magic. In other fantasy news today, STAR TREK's J.J. Abrams will produce GOD PARTICLE, a sf flick with a small budget which will centre on a team of American astronauts aboard a space station who are left stranded when the Earth vanishes into thin air, after a mishap with a Hadron particle accelerator. While they try to determine a course of action, they discover a European spacecraft on their radar.

WU DANG EPIC TRAILER

Check out the trailer for Chinese martial arts period adventure WU DANG set in Shanghai, early Republican China, 1920s. Professor Tang Yunlong (Vincent Zhao), a widowed adventurer, returns to China from the US for the first time since he left during the Qing dynasty. He is sponsoring martial arts games at a Daoist monastery in the Wudang Mountains in which his teenage daughter, Tang Ning (Josie Xu), is to compete. En route to Shanghai's railway station, Yunlong stops to advise a friend from the Manchu nobility on

 the purchase of a 2,000-year-old sword, reputed to have magical properties, that has long gone missing. The seller is an overseas Chinese arts trafficker, Paul Chen (Shaun Tam), who is asking US$300,000. Yunlong spots that the sword is a fake and narrowly escapes alive when Chen tries to kill him. However, Yunlong manages to keep a coded Wudang treasure map he found in the sword's box. Among those assembling for the games is Tian Xin (Mini Yang), a member of the clan who once owned the sword, who has been entrusted by her grandfather to recover it and has a copy of the same treasure map. Tian Xin and Tang Ning both win their initial heats in the games,

  though Yunlong tells his daughter to take things more seriously. Searching separately in the mountains one night, Yunlong and Tian Xin find a cave with some swords but are attacked by their guardian, monk Bai Long (Dennis To). Yunlong and Tian Xin agree to join forces, with her keeping the sword and him keeping the rest of the treasure. Meanwhile, Tian Ning has got to know a young monk, Shui Heyi (Louis Fan), who is being trained by the chief abbot, Xie (Henry Fong), in "sleeping kung-fu". Yunlong and Tian Xin try to decipher the secrets of the treasure map, but then Chen turns up looking for revenge!

DELHI SAFARI

This one comes from India and I bet you didn't even know they also have animated movies. DELHI SAFARI hits cinemas in United States of America December 7th bringing the story of a journey undertaken by a cub leopard, his mother, a monkey, a bear and a parrot when the forest they live in is on the verge of destruction. A man is on the run to destroy the forest in order to erect a balcony. These five animals plan to go to Delhi and ask the parliament

some very simple yet pertinent questions - why has man become the most dangerous animal? Doesn't man understand that if the forests and the animals don't exist, man will cease to exist? With the budget of about $ 15 million, this delightful movie has quite an interesting cast 

including Cary Elwes as sultan, Christopher Lloyd as pigeon, Jason Alexander as Male Flamingo and Hyena Cook with Jane Lynch as the Female Flamingo, and Vanessa Williams as Begum. Check out the fun and colourful trailer for the film:

DINO TIME

The second animated film that you will watch this month is ready to open up in cinemas also December 7th. DINO TIME follows three

curious kids who accidentally trip an egg-shaped time machine into operation and find themselves back 65 million years in the middle of a nest of dinosaur eggs. The first thing they see is a giant T-Rex staring down at them in happy wonder. They're not food, they're family!  One of the most talked about pieces of movie info in last few days is the start of the casting process for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, the movie adaptation of Marvel's comic book about a team of superheroes. A whole slate of young actors are currently doing tests for the lead role of Guardians' leader Peter Quill. According to latest updates in the run for the role are Lee Pace, who is currently playing Elven king Thranduil in THE HOBBIT, James Marsden, who already has superhero experience from playing Cyclops in XMEN, Eddie Redmayne, whom you will soon watch in LES MISERABLES, Sullivan Stapleton, Australian hunk who is playing the lead role in 300 prequel RISE OF AN EMPIRE, young Jim Sturgess, and two people who are, for some strange reason, always mentioned in most of the Hollywood

castings even though they never seem to get any big role (either for the lack of talent or charisma) - Garret Hedlund (ERAGON) and Joel Edgerton (WARRIOR). The role in question - of Peter Quill - is of a

former NASA astronaut who comes to learn that his father is an alien, which leads him into outer space. Armed with a sentient ship and a suit that enhances his strength, Quill eventually transforms himself into the Star-Lord.The film is scheduled for August 2014!

Here's an interesting sci fi project coming up in the future: 20th Century Fox will do a movie adaptation of WOOL, a five part novel saga from

Hugh Howey who published the books himself. The film, to be directed by J. Blakeson (THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED), will be set in subterranean silos that house the remnants of humanity on a post apocalyptic Earth. "MovieWeb" brings the synopsis: "Thousands of them have lived underground. They've lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside. Or you'll get what you wish for".
