GIRL YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE
A MILLI VANILLI SCANDAL MOVIE
After playing in European cinemas this one is hitting American cinemas August 9th. GIRL YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE is centered around the true story of the notorious scandal involving dancers Robert Pilatus'
and Fabrice Morvan's rise to fame in the late 1980s as pop sensation Milli Vanilli. Matthias Schweighöfer is playing the group’s producer Frank Farian with
Elan Ben Ali and Tijan Njie appearing as the Milli Vanilli front men
Fabrice Morvan and Rob Pilatus.
The film is out in USA this August |
Orchestrated by music producer Frank Farian, they became global stars
with three No. 1 hits in the US. But only a small circle of insiders
know that the duo is not singing but lip syncing to the voices of two
other artists. At the height of their fame, Milli Vanilli win the Grammy
Award but the situation behind the scenes escalates and the pressure on
Rob and Fab grows. When the truth is revealed, they stare into the
abyss while the world witnesses one of the biggest scandals in music
history.
Looks very entertaining...the guys have the super star look, but I want to know who is the one who sings all the No.1 hits.
ReplyDeleteI do not remember who sung instead of them, but I know that the uglier one continued performing as Milli Vanilli and I saw him a few years ago at one of German squares performing at some holiday concert or something, he sings terribly.
DeleteI was such a fan of Milli Vanilli back in the 80's. It was sad what happened to Rob Pilatus after they were found out and got such backlash about it.
ReplyDeleteI heard Charles Shaw, John Davis, and Brad Howell who were the actual singers years after it all came out and they still sounded good. They should have made more Milli Vanilli music after all this blew over.
They all would have loved TikTok. lol
Well, they knew what was happening, so I don't really feel sorry for them, and they truly were terrible singers, I heard one of them a few years ago and he was atrocious LOL
DeleteSkeletons will always find a way to come out of the closet. They should have known it would eventually come to light. But I did love the music back in the day. Well, still do! I mean, I'll rock out to it if it pops up on the radio or on my Apple music shuffle.
ReplyDeleteI only liked Girl You Know It's True, but even that one I much prefer the Oli P. version from the early 2000s.
