Harold and the Purple Crayon,
David Guion and
Michael Handelman will, according to Deadline, script
THE MOUSE AND THE MOTORCYCLE, a live-action and CGI hybrid adaptation based on the novel by
Beverly Cleary, over at
Amazon MGM Studios. It was published in 1965, as the first book in a trilogy that has sold 20 million copies. The story follows the once-in-a-lifetime friendship between a mouse and a boy who both yearn for adventure and bond over a toy motorcycle that whirs to life during a stay at a beautiful inn. It will be an elevated adaptation made for a mass audience.
Oh, how lovely! This was my favorite book when I was in grade school. I probably checked it out of the school library a million times. I hope the film is just as cute as the book.
