Well, you have to hand it to them: Russians have beaten the Americans again becoming the first nation ever to shoot a film up in space. CHALLENGE (ВЫЗОВ) was a massive, historic project of Channel One, Glavkosmos, Roscosmos State Corporation, Yellow, Black and White studios, START online cinema, with the support of the Cinema Fund, who all joined last year to send Yulija Peresild and director Klim Shipenko up to space via rocket to shoot the first film ever in space, and the whole mission, including Yulia's long preparations and training, was aired on Russian National Television in the form of a reality programme. Now the product of it will be seen from April 12th when the movie they shotCHALLENGE arrives to Russian cinemas and today you can check out the amazing first trailer and posters for the film that also stars Serbian star Milos
Klim Shipenko directed the movie
Bikovic. Yulia plays the thoracic surgeon Zhenya who has to prepare for a space flight in a month and go to the ISS in order to save the life of an astronaut.
CHALLENGE
is the first feature film in the history of cinemato- graphy,
shot aboard the International Space Station, 400 km from Earth. The
story follows thoracic surgeon Zhenya who has a month to prepare for a
space flight and go to the ISS to save the astronaut. Will she be able
to overcome the challenges? Can she overcome her insecurities and fears?
Will she be able to carry out the most difficult operation in
weightlessness, on which the chances of an astronaut to return to Earth
alive depend?
I followed the whole process last year, and her training and it was very interesting, she was up there for a few days and then they came back followed by the cameras of the national broadcaster, a true national endevour!
It's amazing what limits we're willing to push for art and entertainment. I wonder how many years from now it will be before heading into space is no big deal. Probably not in our lifetime, but it's amazing to think where we'll be in 50-100 years as far as humans breaking barriers in space goes.
And those will only be available for the really wealthy. Good luck to the rest of us peons who have to spend every dollar to eat. Like those flying cars you posted about on Facebook today. Will definitely be a world of haves and haves not with the social divide growing bigger and bigger with every new advancement.
Well you cannot have plebs flying into space LOL And I imagine the flying cars will be available to everyone after a certain amount of years, I am just waiting to see how will they fly them when you first need legislative regulatives for it, you cannot just have people flying around without rules, so I imagine most of those who buy them will not be able to fly them for a long time. I would not want someone flying over my yard or head.
Agreed. I definitely don't want anyone flying their drones, cars, or anything else over my house. Takes stalking to a whole new level as well. Not to mention, what happens if a car fails in the air? How many will crash into homes then?
I hope so. I mean, Look at how many jerks throw garbage out their car windows now. Can you imagine sitting peacefully in your back yard then BAM. You just got hit with a coke can or a cigarette butt. They better have some kind of grids that keep the cars away from homes, schools and where people walk in general.

I am not a SF fan, but you have me that this film is shooting in space.

ReplyDeleteAs far as I know tourist trips to space or space station will be available in a very near future, especially if they manage to build spacelifts.

DeleteThey will probably have to put some kind of invisible signal grids that the cars will follow, kinda like air roads or something.
