MGM PLUS SF SERIES SLATE
EARTH ABIDES AND ARK
MGM +, which launches January 15th as a premium linear and streaming channel, under the new name (previously known as Epix) has ordered SAS: Rogue
Heroes and Billy The Kid second seasons and added two new apocalyptic shows as well. Based on the novel by George R. Stewart, EARTH ABIDES is set after a plague of unprecedented virulence sweeps the globe, and the human race is all but wiped out. In the aftermath, as the great machine of civilization slowly and inexorably breaks down, only a few shattered survivors remain to struggle against the slide into barbarism … or extinction. Based on the books by Stephen Baxter, ARK will be set in 2030, when the oceans have risen rapidly, and soon, the entire planet will be submerged. But the discovery of another life-sustaining planet light-years away gives hope to those who remain alive. Only a few will be able to make the generations-long journey, and those who don’t make the cut face a watery death. MGM + also has Domina Ancient Rome set series second season coming up soon and A Spy Among Friends debuting March 12th with Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce. They are also shooting Kevin Kline half hour comedy American Classic!
Ark will be based on Stephen Baxter's book |
Used to like apocalyptic shows...now I find them very depressing...
ReplyDeleteProbably because we now live the apocalypse of a sort.
DeleteMGM+ doesn’t sound like it has anything that I would like to watch on their platform. Then again, it did take a few years for Apple TV to have anything interesting I would like. Once they start getting more then apocalyptic shows I might give them a try.
ReplyDeleteThey do a lot of apocalypse, sf and history, which is why I often cover them here.
