DAVID TENNANT TO LEAD
NEW AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS TV SERIES ADAPTATION
Another day, another new period set drama for us, and we ain't complaining! David Tennant has just scored the lead role in the eight part
TV series adaptation of famous AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS novel by Jules Verne to be produced by Slim Film + Television.
David Tennant will lead the series |
He will play famous explorer Phileas Fogg! In the book, following an
outrageous bet, Fogg and his valet, Passepartout (played by black rising
French actor Ibrahim Koma in the clear case of blackwashing) take on the legendary journey of
circumnavigating the globe in just 80 days, swiftly joined by aspiring
journalist Abigail Fix (played by The Crown’s Leonie Benesch) who seizes
the chance to report on this extraordinary story.
The series will start shooting next February with airing time set for the end of 2020. The Durrells director Steve Barron is helming the project. The series will air on France Télévisions, Germany’s ZDF, British BBC and Italy’s RAI!
'BECOMING ELIZABETH'
STARZ ORDERS SERIES ON THE TEENAGE ELIZABETH TUDOR
Meanwhile, after they finish their borderline unwatchable Spanish Princess series, STARZ is staying at the Tudor court because they are planning a new epic saga on queen Elizabeth but when she was still young.
Eight part saga BECOMING ELIZABETH, written not surprisingly only by women, centres on the young Elizabeth Tudor, an orphaned teenager who becomes embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court on her journey to secure the crown.
The series will be shot in eight hourlong episodes! |
I suppose the classic adventure by Jules Verne won't lose its charm in the new series, though nowadays, 80 days is quite a lot of time for the trip around the world.
ReplyDeleteI bet it will be filled with modern agenda! I think I liked the one with Pierce Brosnan best.
DeleteBecoming Elizabeth sounds intriguing, but I feel like a similar project was mentioned recently.
ReplyDeleteThey're milking Tudors like there is no tomorrow!
DeleteI think you’re right on both counts. Milking Tudors past the point of boredom and I’m sure 80 days will be filled with modern agenda to shove down our throats.
ReplyDeleteWell, they've already blackwashed his servant and put a feminist reporter in their team, because they really really had feminist female reporters back in those days.... /eyeroll/
Delete80 Days seems like it's going to be a bit... nah. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will be an expensive production.
DeleteI am really interested in Elizabeth story, such a great figure!
ReplyDeleteHope they won't cast her terribly like in Reign series.
