Friends With Freud
Seventeen year old Franz (Simon Morze) journeys to Vienna to apprentice at a tobacco shop. There he meets Sigmund Freud (Bruno Ganz), a regular customer, and over time the two very different men form a singular friendship. When Franz falls desperately in love with the music hall dancer Anezka (Emma Drogunova), he seeks advice from the renowned psychoanalyst, who admits that the female sex is as big a mystery to him as it
is to Franz. As political and social conditions in Austria
dramatically worsen with the Nazis' arrival in Vienna, Franz, Freud, and
Anezka are swept into the maelstrom of events. Each has a big decision
to make: to stay or to flee?

ReplyDeleteBeta Film always has the best of projects!
DeleteJason probably wouldn't be interested in this one, but I certainly am. It looks beautiful, and touching and sad, too. I'll save it for a morning when I am time all to myself and can watch it without interruption.
ReplyDeleteIt has a warm feel in all that tragedy of war, kinda reminds me of the time when my generation was growing into adulthood under NATO bombs. It is normally the time of your youth you want to enjoy most, but sometimes cannot and it gets stolen forever.
DeleteNobody should have to spend their youth that way. I wish war was never a thing, but sadly, until the human race is no more, it will continue. Humans sure do know how to stain life with ugliness :(
DeleteThere probably wouldn't be no wars around the world if there wasn't for USA and some of the Islamic countries :( Most other countries don't rely on war to fill their coffers.
DeleteSadly, this is as accurate of a statement and one can make.
DeleteTrue :(
DeleteLooks good!
