ANNE LISTER IS A TRUE GENTLEMAN WHO KNOWS WHERE SHE IS GOING IN GENTLEMAN JACK BBC EPIC SAGA TEASER WITH SURRANE JONES! RACHEL WEISZ TO STAR IN LANNY FANTASY DRAMA

RACHEL WEISZ
TO LEAD 'LANNY' FANTASY DRAMA
Rachel Weisz will play Lanny's mother
Out this month in stores, Max Porter's new novel about a boy gone missing has already scored Rachel Weisz as the lead in the movie adaptation. LANNY is set in a village sixty miles outside London. It’s no different from many other villages in England: one pub, one church, red brick cottages, council cottages and a few bigger houses dotted about. Voices rise up, as they might do anywhere, speaking of loving and needing and working and dying and walking the dogs. This village belongs to the people who live in it and to the people who lived in it hundreds of years ago. It belongs to England’s mysterious past and its confounding present. But it also belongs to Dead Papa Toothwort, a figure schoolchildren used to draw green and leafy, choked by tendrils growing out of his mouth. Dead Papa Toothwort is awake. He is listening to this twenty first century village, to his English symphony. He is listening for an enchanting boy whose parents have recently made the village their home. Lanny.

'GENTLEMAN JACK'
FIRST TEASER RELEASED BY BBC
BBC One has released the first, very fun, teaser for their new epic series GENTLEMAN JACK in which Surrane Jones plays a 19th century woman who dresses up, acts and loves like a man governing her late father's estate.
Gentleman Jack will air this spring on BBC in eight episodes
She portrays real life person Anne Lister who returns to Halifax, West Yorkshire in 1832, determined to transform the fate of her faded ancestral home Shibden Hall. The cast also includes Joe Armstrong, Gemma Jones and Sophie Rundle.

  1. The actress looks lovely in the picture. The picture, however, doesn't seem to be related to the story of Lanny which is set in a typical english village. One doesn't go dressed like that in a village. On the other hand, it's a fantasy drama, so, anything is possible.

    1. the film hasn't even started shooting, so it is not a photo from the film :) It is just an announcement. But the photo was, indeed, taken in a green English province, methinks.

  2. It doesn't have to be a photo from the film, but connected somehow to the plot to give us the right idea. A photo of the actress is ok, but the way she's dressed makes us think of the Oscar party not of a
    village.

    1. well you can hardly find a studio photo of Rachel in modest, village clothes :) She always looks ever so glamorous! And glam is what the spy is :) Glamour, history and fantasy. And visual splendour. I remember that even when she starred in that historical movie Agora about famous historian Hypathia of Egypt, she looked glamorous even in the scenes when she is beaten, ill and bloodied. That is why she isn't very believable in the scenes of deep suffering, sadly.

  3. I see your point. Well, glamour attracts attention and that's good for a lot of things.
The picture of Rachel Weisz is very attractive!

    1. True, she's been in a dark phase in last few years, wonder if it has anything to do with her marriage with Daniel Craig?

  5. I'm usually attracted to films that are set in rural English villages. Add in Weisz and I'm sold.
