BELGRAVIA
is a tale of secrets and scandals set in 1840s London when the upper echelons of society began to rub shoulders with the emerging industrial nouveau riche. But the story begins on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, when the Duchess of Richmond throws a party in Brussels for the Duke of Wellington. Among the guests are James and Anne Trenchard, who are living on the profits of new found trading success. Their young daughter Sophia has caught the eye of Edmund Bellasis, the son and heir of one of the richest and most prominent families in
England. Twenty five years later, when the two families are settled into
the newly developed area of Belgravia, the events of the ball, and the
secrets, still resonate.

It's the third time, I think, that you write about Belgravia, and each time you mention Waterloo it brings back memories to me.
ReplyDeleteI visited the place many years ago. We had to climb to the top of a hill, and I was not adequately dressed. I was wearing a skirt, and Alas, I "provided a view" to those in line after me. Nothing to be ashamed of; I was young with nice legs, but since then I don't wear skirts on trips like that any more; usually long pants.
After your first sentence, I thought you were gonna say you were part of Abba :)))
DeleteI imagine the place of the battlefield still carries the grim atmosphere :(
Thanks for reminding me of Abba's famous song Waterloo. I love it as well as some of their other songs.
DeleteBe welcome!
DeleteOoh, I want to watch!!!
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to hear the rest of the casting process... I don't think Alice has ever been a star enough to carry a series herself.
DeleteIt's going to be Downton Abbey all over again!
ReplyDeleteyes, some of these actors already starred in Boreton Abbey
DeleteIs it me, or does Alice Eve look like Tiger Wood's Swedish ex-wife? Beautiful lady that will undoubtedly look great in the role.
ReplyDeleteshe looks prettier in this photo than usual :) She starred last year in BBC's Agatha Christie as Bill Nighy's lover.
DeleteThat's one heck of a picture. Wait, did you say Waterloo?
ReplyDeletewhere Napoleon did surrender
DeleteThe short guy. But that's still one heck of a picture. I'm in love.
DeleteWith Alice, Harriet, Philip?
DeleteDez, That dress is stunning...
ReplyDeleteyou should've seen it before I cut it to fit the photo :) It is very long and floating.
