It's finally here, the first trailer for the movie about the man who invented Winnie the Pooh GOODBYE, CHRISTOPHER ROBIN! Directed by always brilliant Simon Curtis who gave us
lovely Cranford and My Week with Marilyn, it will arrive into cinemas this Autumn, September 29th! It gives us a behind the scenes look at the life of author A.A. Milne and the creation of the Winnie the Pooh stories inspired by his son C.R. Milne. This year also marks the 40 years of the release of Disney's animated classic.

GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN offers a rare glimpse into the
relationship between beloved children's author A. A. Milne (Domhnall
Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical
world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne (Margot Robbie),
and his nanny
Olive (Kelly MacDonald), Christopher Robin and his family
are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting
tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War.
But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost
be to the family? Nico Mirallegro also stars.

I wonder how many untold number of baby boys have been named Christopher Robin, thanks to those books?
ReplyDeleteI've never actually known about the book before this movie was announced. The book isn't really a classic around the world, mostly in English speaking countries, methinks.
DeleteI can't wait to see the film. Winnie the Pooh is such a beloved classic! Is that the voice of Disney's Merida narrating the film?
ReplyDeleteI just wish they've cast somebody else in the lead role, Domnhall never had any real talent nor charisma, and this role needs someone with warm radiance of which he is the total opposite. It is beyond me why they'd cast him. Richard Madden, James Norton, David Oakes, Jack Lowden, Sam Reid, even Tom Hiddleston or Dan Stevens would've been much better choices here
DeleteHopefully they had good reasons for casting him. I'll keep my fingers crossed he's able to get his A game on and deliver a worthy performance.

ReplyDeleteShould be an interesting story. I just saw the film about another well known children's author, Beatrice Potter.... it was very interesting to see her life and how she created peter rabbit and all those charming illustrations and stories...
never heard of her, will google the lady to see what she did :) I'm currently translating a YA novel set in mediaeval princedom of Russia and I have a strong wish to illustrate it too :)
