JACK LOWDEN TO WED
'MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS'!
|
You will watch Lowden in 'Dunkirk' as well |
Well. this we certainly like! After he played a Russian count in
War and Peace, our dearest
Jack Lowden will go royal again in new
MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS movie in which
Saoirse Ronan plays the tragic queen, while
Margot Robbie is her enemy cousin Elizabeth of England. Lowden will be famous Lord Darnley!
MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS will be based on John Guy's The True Life of Mary
Stuart which shows her not as a woman who uses her feminine charms to
achieve her goals (she was first married to the French king, then to a
couple of other aristocrats in Scotland, before being forced to give her
throne to her son James after which she was executed by Elizabeth) but
as the intellectual and political equal of Elizabeth I. CW's series
Reign, which also follows Mary's life, ends with the final ever episode
next Friday after four seasons. She married Darnley thinking he will
strengthen her claim to the English throne but he got killed in the end.

In the world of the small screens,
The Hollywood Reporter writes today that
Netflix has hired
Age of Adaline and
Game of Thrones star
Michiel Huisman as the lead in their new
THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE ten episode series. The series will be a modern re-imagining of
Shirley Jackson's classic 1959 novel of the same name. The story revolves around four people living in an 80 year old mansion.
Michiel Huisman will take on the role of Steven Crane, the oldest Crane sibling and a published writer of supernatural books — including a memoir about his family's time living at Hill House. There was a movie version of this story twenty years ago with
Catherine Zeta Jones and
Liam Neeson.
Mary and Elizabeth -- real life Game of Thrones!
ReplyDeletelots of chop chopped heads indeed
DeleteI rented the movie and wasn't impressed. We'll see if the series is any better.
ReplyDeleteif I remember, the movie was a kind of a comedy, right?
DeleteHonestly, I don't remember much about the film. I just knew that I didn't like it. I'm sure Jason's like for it was higher than mine since his woman Catherine was in it.
Deletewe do love her! She is very active on Facebook where I follow her
DeleteI have developed an interest in Mary in my older years. But Elizabeth is still one of my top intriguing queens in history.
ReplyDeletemy fave novel on Mary is the one from Stephan Zweig, famous German writer. I think Margot will be good as Elizabeth, but I'm not sold on Saoirse as Mary at all
