'GOOD PLACE' SITCOM
KRISTEN BELL & TED DANSON
In TV news, 'Deadline' reports that NBC has cast Kristen Bell and Ted Danson for their new comedy series GOOD PLACE which has been ordered straight to series in 13 episodes! It centres on Eleanor (Bell, who will not be leaving HOUSE OF LIES for this), a woman from New Jersey who comes to realize that she hasn’t been a very good person. She decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be “good” or “bad,” and then trying to make up for her past behaviour. Danson plays Michael, who, through an unlikely set of circumstances, comes to be Eleanor’s guide through her self-designed self-improvement course.
NEW NBC SITCOM PILOTS
MARLON WAYANS COMEDY
Speaking of NBC's comedies, they've also ordered a pilot for MARLON multicamera sitcom which would star famous comedian Marlon Wayans! Loosely inspired by his life, it centres on an inappropriate but loving father (Wayans) committed to successfully co-parenting with his polar opposite ex-wife.
'POWER LESS' COMEDY
They've also ordered a pilot for POWERLESS single camera sitcom set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. It will focus on POWERLESS folk working there who often envy the men and women outside their window who make headlines with their supernatural powers.

'MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN'
HOW TO EXPLAIN THE IMPOSSIBLE
The only trailer I have for you is the new one for Christian propaganda movie MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN out around Easter this March!
Based on the book 'Three Miracles From Heaven' by Christy Beam it revolves around a young girl suffering from a rare digestive disorder who finds herself miraculously cured after surviving a terrible accident. Jennifer Garner and Martin Henderson play her parents, while Queen Latifah also features in the Patricia Riggen directed movie.
Gawd, Ted Danson just goes on and on and on. And on!
ReplyDeletethey just kicked him out of a show and is now hunting for a new sitcom :) Whenever I see him I ask myself IS SHELLEY LONG alive? Where is she?
DeleteWhy did they kick Ted out of a show? Is he difficult? I always liked him.
DeleteI've no idea, I hear he only had a one year contract.
DeleteShelley Long has a bit part in "Modern Family" where she plays Jay's crazy ex-wife, the mother of his two oldest kids.
Deleteahhh, glad to hear she's alive :)
DeleteHi Dez,
ReplyDeleteHow are you?
Hmmm, maybe Good Place.....
'tis a very slow week, I'm afraid
DeleteMiracles From Heaven sure has been getting lots of press.
ReplyDeleteimagine why :)
Deleteseems every Christians who survives a near-death experience will credit "seeing heaven" and writing a book that will make millions.
ReplyDeleteyou reckon they share the millions the Christian way?
DeleteProbably not. I don't find most Christan's to practice what they preach. In fact, lately it seems to be the complete opposite. However, I do think the movie looks good and will still probably see it even with the religious stuff tossed in.
Deletewell, at least there's Martin Henderson in it :)
DeleteI still miss Veronica Mars...
ReplyDeletehaven't seen that one, Liz
DeleteI'm surprised Kristen Bell is doing TV...seems like she's just on the verge of being a big movie star...but then, what do I knwo about what the best direction for a career is these days? I do love to listen to her sing. If she could just work that into the show, I'll be happy!
ReplyDeleteshe probably never be a big movie star, since she has passed the youngest of age the Hollywood demands of actresses, and has no international power, so her haven will always be TV, but she has enough star power to carry a sitcom, methinks
DeleteOh, kristen bell will be on TV?? I love her!!! That sounds very stereotypical about the NJ character though...those stereotypes about NJ and NY attitudes always irk me.
ReplyDeletewho is NJ, sistah?
DeleteMiracles from Heaven sounds interesting. I saw the other one - Heaven is for Real. I just don't know. Some stuff I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteyep, it's from the same producers, probably sponsored by the church itself :)
DeleteChristian propaganda movie? Are Kristen and Wayan in white and black propaganda series Dez?
ReplyDeleteLOL what a silly parallel, sister. Why would they be in a white and black propaganda series? :)
DeleteThe movie is an absolute Christian propaganda because those films are sponsored by Christian circles and marketed by them and the topic itself is an absolute propaganda, which I don't have much against, because I know lots of people lean towards religion, but it is still a propaganda movie using people's emotions born in extremely sensitive tragedies and situations to drive them towards what Christian religion believes in.
That could also be said about any movie that uses emotion as a way to drive home their point of view or gain support for their idea, belief or institution. Which is why I made that parallel, brother. Because since this is a mechanism used in many movies I wondered how come for Christianity it is propaganda? Plus the same question could be posed as why the actors in the Christian movie would be in a propaganda film? Actors can't always choose how the message of a movie comes across.
DeleteNow that would be generalising the topic too much and trying to spread it thin, Sheena.
DeleteJust to be clear, I'm not attacking Christianity, but calling things the right name and I'm not sure why you took it with an offence - they did use the most sensitive of emotions here, sick children and broken mothers to attract the flock towards religion, whether that is good or not is not the topic here, the topic is that it is exactly what the definition of propaganda is - using such or similar means to draw people towards accepting certain models of thinking and joining a certain group. That is what they do with these movies. Pure and simple. Used by an organised group or organisation such is church (while other movies even if they spread certain ideas are not drawing people towards certain organisations or religious groups) that is the difference.
When it comes to the actors, they're either religious people themselves or are simply paid. This does not necessarily have to have a negative aim behind it. For example, one of my fave movies UNCONDITIONAL is also in a way a Christian propaganda movie, but with its message it draws people more towards Christian way of behaviour than to Church and towards being flocked by priests etc.
anything to do with miracles is worth a watch. I want to see that one..
ReplyDeletehope you will like it!
DeleteTed Danson... Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a LONG time.
ReplyDeleteShelley Long time?
DeletePretty much.
