BEREN SAAT TO PLAY 'KOSEM SULTANA' IN NEW HISTORICAL TV SAGA! 'THE UNBEATABLES' ANIMATED SOCCER MOVIE TRAILER! MICHAEL ROSENBAUM AS GAY 'IMPASTOR' IN NEW TV LAND SITCOM

BEREN SAAT TO TOPLINE
TV SAGA ON 17TH CENTURY TURKISH 'KOSEM SULTANA'
One of the most watched shows around the world, lavish and intricately written Turkish historical saga THE MAGNIFICENT CENTURY on Sultan Suleyman and his wife sultana Hurrem ended for good last week after jawdropping 139 two hour long episodes and four years of airing, but as I told you before Tims Production, who made the show, are ready for another one: in September 2015 they will start airing KOSEM SULTANA epic show and you can watch the first teaser below. It is just a promo teaser, the actors haven't been chosen so far and the shooting hasn't begun yet either. But there are rumours from Istanbul that the lead role will go to Turkish star Beren Saat!

DEZZY'S HISTORY LESSON
Kosem Sultana, also known as Mahpeyker Sultana (the name means Moon Shaped), was one of the most powerful women in Ottoman history, favourite wife of Ottoman Sultan Ahmed I  from the early 17th century. She achieved power and influenced the politics of the Ottoman Empire through her husband, then through her sons Murad IV and Ibrahim I and finally through her grandson Mehmed IV. She was a prominent figure during the Sultanate of Women (which started with the rule of Hurem Sultana). She was official regent twice and was thereby one of only two women to have been formal rulers of the Ottoman Empire. She came to the sultan's palace in Istanbul as a 15 year old slave girl, but quickly became influential in the harem. It is believed that in the end she was killed by her own daughter in law, sultana Turhan, because she wanted to put another of her grandsons on the throne. Kösem was renowned for her charity work and for freeing her slaves after 3 years of service.

MICHAEL ROSENBAUM IS
 GAY PASTOR IN 'IMPASTOR' SITCOM
Here's something delightful to expect on the small screens: according to Deadline SMALVILLE's star Michael Rosenbaum will return to the small screens leading the cast as an unusual conman in TV Land's new sitcom IMPASTOR! The hilarious new comedy will revolve around a lowlife on the run from his debts (Michael Rosenbaum) who hides away in a small town by conning its residents into thinking he’s their newly hired gay pastor.

'THE UNBEATABLES' TRAILER
ANIMATED MOVIE ABOUT SOCCER
A year or two ago I told you that Oscar winning director Juan Jose Campanella (SECRET IN THEIR EYES) is preparing a soccer animated movie and now here's the first trailer right on time while the whole world is watching the matches over in Brazil. THE UNBEATABLES will bring the team spirit to cinemas this August with Rupert Grint, Rob Brydon and Anthony Head lending voices in the story about Amadeo, a shy but talented young man, and his table football team, who magically come to life as they try to reunite after being dismantled and torn from their home.

  1. Wow, I can't imagine writing 139 two-hour episodes, and then jumping right into another epic series. Doubt we'll ever get the Turkish series here, but it sounds very lush and fabulous.

    1. And on top of that all of those 139 two hour (some even longer) episodes were brilliant, intricate and filled with twists in every scene... and the sets, costumes and the whole production were on a higher level even than the US shows. Imagine producing thousands of gowns, kaftans, crowns, jewellery for each scene..... four years in a row.
The lead actress actually left the show in the third season because she couldn't cope with the tempo of 24/7 shootings.... and their original scribe died from cancer after the second season, so the writing was taken over by a new writer who brought the show onto a higher level

    1. I don't really see it as tragic... she did lead a fulfilled life... ruled, loved, enjoyed, had kids, built an empire.... what more could you want? And she knew that in that game of hers it's either beat them or end up beaten......
Such were the times... Suleyman himself lost more than five kids... killed two of his sons himself because they wanted to usurp the throne.... Hurrem Sultana also lost her sons too and in a way lost the game by her daughter in law Nurbanu Sultana who will later on become the first female ruler of the Ottoman Empire.. and even though Hurrem was kinda her enemy there... she ruled following her ways and using her character as a role model. Such were the times.....

    2. If it comes on for free, I might give it a watch. But I wouldn't go pay to see many movies. Too high for me. Though it is fun to go to the movie house, from time to time.
