In sf news this weekend, as Deadline reports, director Edgar Wright is set to helm the movie adaptation of Simon Stephenson's debut novel SET MY HEART TO FIVE which is out at Harper Collins later this year. The story takes place in an all-too human 2054 and introduces Jared, an android who undergoes an emotional awakening and embarks on a quest to convince humans that he and his kind should be permitted to feel. It’s a quest, sparked in part by Jared’s introduction to 80’s and 90’s movies, that leads to an unforgettable adventure across the West Coast of America, after he determines to write a film script that will change the world.

Not so long ago, in fact it was earlier this summer, we had the piece of news that Nicholas Hoult will play the father of the MiddleEarth in biopic TOLKIEN and now 'The Hollywood Reporter' has got the scoop that Lily Collins might play the woman who inspired legendary Lord of the Rings! 

The movie explores the early life of J. R. R. TOLKIEN as he finds love, friendship and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts. When the horrors of World War I envelope Tolkien's life, they threaten to tear this "fellowship" apart, and he questions the very meaning and purpose of his art. Instead, he finds a way to use these experiences as inspiration for his famous works, among them The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Lily Collins will play his love and wife Edith Bratt who inspired the elven princesses from his sagas. Anthony Boyle has also been cast!

   Ali is an upper class Muslim man, whose family holds a great deal of power in Baku, Azerbaijan. At that time, before World War One, Azerbaijan was part of the Russian Empire. Nino, Ali's lover, is from neighbouring Georgia and is Christian, but the two are deeply in love and elope to the countryside. The story follows the two, who get married, through World War One, which only sees some of Ali's friends sent off to war. After the Russians surrender, however, conflict comes to Baku. Ali fights the Bolsheviks with the Azerbaijani militia and Nino helps nurse wounded soldiers during the March Days massacre in Baku.

To premiere globally on Netflix next year OKJA will see Lily Collins, WALKING DEAD's Steven Yeun, Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, Devon Bostick, Byun Heebong and Yoon Je Moon starring in a story which follows Mija, a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja. Now, I don't know if you remember, but your spy was one of the first ones to love and write about Chris Evans' sf movie SNOWPIERCER which also starred Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, John Hurt and Edd Harris. Now 'The Hollywood Reporter' reveals that it will be turned into a TV series by the studio known for Tim Allen's LAST MAN STANDING, with AVATAR 2's Josh Friedman penning the script. The story is set years after a global Ice Age decimated the planet, with the survivors living in a constantly moving train known as Snowpiercer which has its wagons divided into social classes. Some privileged, some sorely unprivileged.
