The film will follow fashion model couple Carl (Dickinson) and Yaya (Charlbi Dean) who are invited on a luxury cruise. When the yacht sinks they become stranded on a desert island with a group of billionaires and a cleaning lady (Dolly De Leon). In the fight for survival, old hierarchies are turned upside down since the cleaning lady is the only one who knows how to fish. TREK: PICARD sf series starts January 23rd on CBS All Access which has so much faith in the new show that they've already ordered a 2nd ten episode season as well! Amazon Prime will air the show around the world a day after.

Produced by Alex Kurtzman,  it will be the eighth series in the Star Trek franchise following now retired captain Jean Luc Picard. Set at the end of the 24th century, the storyline is affected by the destruction of the planet Romulus, as well as the death of Data. Much to the joy of Star Trek fans, his old Enterprise crew members Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), Data (Brent Spiner) and Commander Ryker 

The new series was created by Alex Kurtzman

(Jonathan Frakes) who is also directing some of the episodes) will all appear in the series together with Jerry Ryan's Seven of Nine! Troi and Ryker are married now and have kids.

Admiral Jean Luc Picard

Patrick Stewart is playing the famous Enterprise captain and an admiral in his older years, breaking his retirement (which he enjoyed producing vine and playing with his new dog) and going on a new interstellar adventure. Stewart agreed to join the series only if there were no uniforms and no Enterprise for him in it.

Pilot Cristobal Chris Rios

In the more contemplative series with one storyline, instead of episodic plots, Santiago Cabrera will play Chris Rios, the pilot of Picard’s ship who is also a skillful thief and a former Starfleet officer.

Intelligence Officer Raffi Musiker

Michelle Hurd has been added to the cast as Raffi Musiker, a former intelligence officer who is a brilliant analyst with a terrific memory that has not been affected by her drug and alcohol abuse.

Dahj Who Starts The Action

Isa Briones will star in the brand new science fiction series as Dahj, a young woman who comes to Picard for help  which puts the show into action.

Doctor Agnes Jurati

Alison Pill will play Agnes Jurati, a doctor who shares a common goal with admiral Picard. She is also Rios' love interest in the series.

Romulan Agent Narek

English actor Harry Treadaway will appear in the series as Narek, a Romulan agent who joins Picard's crew in investigating what his people are doing to former Borg drones!

Romulan Warrior Elnor

Evan Evagora will play Elnor, a Romulan refugee who is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and is fiercely loyal to Picard.

Seven Of Nine

Jeri Ryan returns as legendary Seven of Nine: a fan favourite former Borg drone liberated from the Collective by the crew of Voyager. She has changed and is much more human now.

Hugh The Borg

Jonathan Del Arco returns from previous series as Hugh: a former Borg drone who appeared in a few of the Next Generation episodes.
Laris Romulan
Our dearest Irish star Orla Brady stars in the first three episodes of the new series as Romulan Laris who together with her husband takes care of Picard's chateau. She is also very tech savy.

The new series will have Number One, Deanna Troi, Data and Seven of Nine guest starring in recurring roles

Beside Patrick Stewart in the title role, the cast also includes Santiago Cabrera as the pilot of Picard's new ship and Harry Treadaway as a Romulan.

Star Trek Picard will air on Amazon Prime

series which will air sometime later this year on Amazon Prime (and on CBS All Access for those who care to give the streaming service their money). Not much is known about the plot of the new spin off from the Star Trek franchise, other that it will see Patrick Stewart playing famous Enterprise captain in his older years, breaking his retirement (which he enjoyed producing vine and playing with his new dog) and going on a new interstellar adventure. Jennifer Connelly (as the head of hospitality who is also the voice of the train), Daveed Diggs (as an ex detective who gets the task to track a killer in the train), Alison Wright, Lena Hall, Mickey Sumner, and Steven Ogg will lead the show in which the only living inhabitants of Earth live in a constantly moving massive train as the temperature outside is well bellow minus 100 degrees Celsius! It will air on TBS next spring set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and following the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation.

CURSED, based on the Lady of the Lake legend, it follows Nimue (Katherine Langford), a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.

JOINS NEW JEAN LUC PICARD STAR TREK TV SERIES AT CBS

Deadline is reporting that new untitled STAR TREK series at CBS which will follow again famous captain Jean Luc Picard (to be played again by Patrick Stewart) on his new adventure, has just added Santiago Cabrera to the cast. Although there are no details on the plot of the series, Santiago Cabrera will play the pilot of Picard’s ship who is also a skillful thief. Michelle Hurd has also been added to the cast as a former intelligence officer who is a brilliant analyst with a terrific memory that has not been affected by her drug and alcohol abuse. The first two episodes will see a female director directing a debut of a Star Trek series for the first time in history. There were also stories that Jonathan Frakes, who played Picard's commander in the Next Generation series, might direct some of the episodes as well.

I've already informed you earlier this year that AMC is preparing a ten episode period set series THE TERROR, based on Dan Simmons novel, and now we have new cast additions: our dear British star Matthew McNulty has joined the ship's crew that already includes Tobias Menzies, Jared Harris, Ciaran Hinds, Adam Nagaitis, Edward Ashley, Liam Garrigan, Ronan Raftery!

THE TERROR is set in 1847 in the polar waters, when a Royal Navy expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crews in a suspenseful and desperate game of survival.This will be an anthology series, which means that some other kind of terror will be the topic of the second season.

Now here's a surprising twist: rumour has it that Santiago Cabrera and Liam Garrigan are set to go medieval again after just being cast inTRANSFORMERS 5: THE LAST KNIGHT. Cabrera who played Lancelot in BBC's Merlin series and Aramis in their Musketeers is allegedly set to play Merlin here, while Garrigan who already played King Arthur in Once Upon a Time ABC show is set to take the crown again! They join previously announced Laura Haddock, who herself isn't a stranger to costume drama since she starred in Da Vinci's Demons, alongside Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, Tyrese Gibson and Mark Wahlberg. It isn't much known about the plot of the movie which is already filming, but it is expected that it will be set both in modern times and the times of Camelot, with Optimus Prime coming back to Earth trying to find some valuable artefact, obviously connected with King Arthur and his wizard Merlin! Michael Bay's movie should be released next June!

LEAD 'THE CHILDREN ACT'
Deadline reports today that British thespian Emma Thompson is in negotiations to star in Richard Eyre's THE CHILDREN ACT as judge Fiona Maye who is so involved with her cases that she hears that it often strains her marriage. But one case is of particular difficultly — that of a 17 year old boy who is suffering from leukemia and does not want to be forced to have possible life saving blood transfusions because it goes against his religion. The case causes internal turmoil for the wise and compassionate judge who must choose between the bright boy’s right to choose and the possibility of a future. It will be an adaptation of Ian McEwan's book!

We continue with TV news in the gravely quiet month of January beginning with the latest info coming from HBO where Nicole Kidman's and Reese Witherspoon's mini series BIG LITTLE LIES has found their male leads in Alexander Skarsgard and James Tupper! An adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s novel it follows three mothers of kindergärtners, Celeste (Kidman), Madeline (Witherspoon) and Jane (Shailene Woodley), whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder.
